College management is very strict and good. It always supports students. Also Student senate has right of questioning everything with the authorities. Students can directly talk to the Management.

I took JEE Main to get admission here. My AIR was 24330. I opted for this institute because there would be hardly any place in the world where you cannot find its alumnus. If you go to count its achievements, your lifetime is not enough for that task. It’s an institution which represents India. It’s an institution which can boast of its contributions for the better world. Who says that the statues and monuments don’t survive long? Give them the example of Howrah Bridge or Victoria Memorial. You might ask that why I mentioned these monuments, my reason is that they were built by its alumnus. You will feel wonder if you come to know that maximum number of institutions and communities are a generous contribution of IIEST SHIBPUR to the cause of better world. Forget about contributions to develop IITs and NITs, you will drop your jaw when you will come to know about its contribution to foreign universities. You will feel amazed to know that the dream of everyone who loves Space, NASA has also experienced the service of its alumni. I think that was enough of its achievements.

The basic ideology behind the IIEST structure is research and generating a person who is ready to cop up with the market and industry as soon as he graduates from the college. The course is well structured. Also the course structure is revised and updated when the need is felt.

Yes, college provides internships. Also we have an internship cell the college which tries to help students in getting the opportunities. Overall experience is satisfactory and stipend varies a lot depending on your capabilities and skills.

College doesn't officially reveals about the placement statistics due to security reasons of the candidate. But yes, placements are quite well now. Almost all types of companies visit the campus. Big tech giants like Microsoft and Tata Steels too pick candidates from here. Almost all of the eligible and interested candidates get placed.

REBECA is the cultural fest, the oldest in India. Famous celebrities and performers visit the campus during that time. Mika Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, etc have visited the campus during recent years. INTRUO is the technical fest. And different clubs organise their own events.

Fee structure is feasible and fee waivers are also given as per your family income and category. For general candidate with 500000+ family income, tution fee is Rs 62500/semester. Totally you will have to pay about 70000/semester that includes examination fee etc. Hostel accommodation is very cheap about Rs 2000. But mess charges vary a lot depending on what you eat (2700-4500 per month).

Yes there are many scholarships based on performance in sports or academics. Also loan facilities are available.

Campus life is wonderful. Students are from all across the country. There are many clubs in which students can get involved. Also sports and extracurricular events and competitions take place throughout the year. There is a swimming pool too where water sports take place. Many workshops are also arranged by the college where we can explore our mind and talents.

hostel facilities are good. In first year you will have 4 persons/room which is quite good since the rooms are generally big. There are 3 hostels for first year boys (8,9,10) and one for girls. Each hostel has its own mess and canteen. You won't face problem in accommodation. Generally, all are allotted hostels. There is a common room which has a LCD TV, carom board. A separate table tennis room, a canteen, a library, a volley ball court, a green lawn etc. Each floor has 12 rooms. There are total 4 floors in each hostel.

Alumni network of IIEST,Shibpur is one of the biggest in the world. And yes they support a lot both financially and technologically.

For B Tech M tech Dual degree, we have total 10 semester with an option to exit after 8 semester. Each semester has mid semester exams which are one of the factors that decide your internal marks. Also class tests and assignments are counted in Internal Marks which are 30/100. Semester exams are 70/100. And finally the GPA is calculated.

After my JEE rank was out, I was given an option to choose a date for my counselling. There was also a choice to choose a venue from a lists of number of institutes. At counselling, my mark sheets, medical certificate, identity proves were checked and finally I was given a provisional admission letter. I had to bring that letter along with me to the institute to carry on admission process here. At the campus Xerox copies of my documents were submitted and original migration certificate was taken. I also had to open an account in the UCO bank at a branch which is inside the campus.

Faculty of the college is highly qualified. Faculty shows interest in teaching and arrange regular classes. Faculty always tries to help students and clear doubts. Everything is taught from the most basic level, then slowly the level is taken towards advanced. If you are from other state, you might feel a little problem with the Bengali's way of speaking English but you will cope up with it very soon.
