A time when I grew technically and personally.

The campus of IIT Kharagpur is really good. We had a big Cricket ground, a movie theater especially for IIT KGP students. The campus has got the biggest library in ASIA.

Exam: GATE - 2016 Score: 69.33 (Rank AIR 171) Because of personal interest in Digital Design, I opted for VLSI design course.

The course of Microelectronics and VLSI is pretty exhaustive and is a perfect balance of theory as well as practical. Major Subjects were: Architecture Design of ICs Semiconductor Device Modeling Analog VLSI VLSI technology CAD tools etc. The lab sessions were also good. We had to use our theoretical knowledge to perform well in labs.

No. The college generally doesn't provide internships. The students here prefer doing projects under the professors only.

The placement for the College is very good. Many reputed companies come for recruitment. Like for us we had Texas Instruments Intel Tech. Nvidia TSMC Analog Devices Cypress Semiconductor Almost all of the students in our batch got selected for Jobs. The pay scale offered is also very competitive to the market.

The were many technical and Cultural events celebrated during the year. The biggest festival was KSHITIJ have we had a lot of bands/ celebrities performing. Some great workshops both technical and non-technical. The events taught us, team bonding and some cool management skills as well.

The Fee structure for us was feasible. We had to pay around 28k for a semester i.e 6 months.

For MTech students, there is a scholarship program called DAAD. In this program, a student is allowed to go to Germany and do a research under a Professor in reputed German college. But He/She has to be a good academic performer.

Campus life is good. The campus is one of the largest in ASIA and has cricket ground, movie theater. Gender ratio, I thought was a little skewed towards boys side. We had only two girls compared to 20 boys in our batch. The Cultural/ Tech fests named KSHITIJ was organized on a very large scale with many students from other colleges also participating.

The Hostel facility was not good. The Hostel in which I stayed was Madan Mohan Malviya. It was on a sharing basis i.e 2 of us stayed in the same room. The rooms were small for two people and bathroom was also shared between four people. The mess food also was pretty bad. The food was tasteless. Only on a few days of the week, we got some decent food with good taste.

The alumni network is also strong. The seniors are generally helpful. For Jobs or providing technical guidance during Course.

I am sharing my personal experience on this and the views are my own. I felt the exam structure was very hectic in the beginning. We had 6 exams on 6 days of the week without a break. I gave those exams with just 2-3 hrs of sleep for those six days. But later I got used to and started preparing for the exam before 1 month which helped a lot to release tension during exam time. Also, this kind of exam pattern teaches one to make the most use of the time and be productive.

The notification form is released online. Any Gate aspirant will always keep the track the notification released for admission by this premier college. Generally, Notification is released 20 days after GATE results are announced. I filled the form and sent it through speed post to the college. I was selected based on GATE rank. There is an online counseling process for this. The process on the day of admission was pretty smooth.

Faculty of the college is quite experienced. They have been in this profession for many years. Their expertise in their specific domain is commendable. We got to know many things from them when we did Lab assignments and projects under them. They take teaching very seriously.
