I scored 98 percentile in GATE which is pretty neat and had options to go to many IITs but I opted for IIT KGP because of the solid research facilities and competent faculty it has. The place is amazing for post graduate studies.

The course curriculum is pretty tough with hectic schedule as the academic session is only for an year. The faculty expects the students to carry out project work in nearly every subject which takes a lot of time.

The college provide stipend of 12000 to all GATE qualified candidates as per the government norms. Apart from this the college gives unique opportunities to go and work in other colleges and companies across the globe.

The placement opportunities provided by the college are world class. In the computer science department the best placements come from Tech giants like Facebook and Google along with e-commerce companies like Flipkart etc.

The most celebrated event in the college is Illumination during Diwali. apart from this the college has many Tech and Youth festivals, the major of which are.

The fees for the college has recently been enhanced to 2 lakh per semester which is pretty high but one can avail loan facility without any collateral.

The college offers flexible loans to all students as well as scholarships to meritorious students on need basis. If you can qualify, money won't be a problem.

The campus at IIT KGP is the largest amongst all IITs with ample greenery. You have all the sports and extracurricular facilities in the campus including gym,tennis,badminton,squash etc. You name a game and we have it. As part of the campus life students are encouraged to join various societies and clubs where they can improve their hobbies and personality.

The hostels at IIT KGP at pretty old and require exhaustive maintenance, however the food in most of the hostels is good. The students have the flexibility to choose the menu.

The alumni network of the college is pretty solid with large contributions coming from alumni from across the g the oldest IIT our college has the best alumni network.

The exams structure is like any other college with few submissions and a mid sem and semester exam alone it's project work. In the final year you are supposed to submit a thesis work on some research.

The faculty of the college especially in computer science department is world class. Many of the faculty members have done their doctorate from foreign universities and have published a large number of papers.
