The best institute to learn and widen technical knowledge.

I can't complaint about studies. But it needs to improve the food quality provided by the mess. Students selected based on the voting for several responsibilities like sports, mess, maintenance etc are not doing their job properly.

I appeared in GATE 2015 and got 17th rank with a score of 814 out of 1000. I wanted to pursue masters degree from a renowned institute. IITs are among premier institutes in India. Especially IIT Kharagpur is known for the resources available for studies and experiments. I felt that ostgraduate M.Tech program would provide me the specialized academic exposure essential to carve a niche in the present day technology. Postgraduation in IIT Kharagpur with its high quality of intellectual and material resources would be the right place to give me the opportunity and environment to realize my academic and professional goals. I believe a masters degree from this institute will not only help me widen my knowledge but will also help me realize my ambition of creating something ingenious, useful and productive in the fast growing field of engineering technology.

Course curriculum is very well arranged here, especially labs. We have to utilize full time period of lab. Experiments are such that even 3 hours would not be enough if you don't do it properly. Electives are so good that one can get confused in selecting subjects. But professors are always helpful in that.

Internship is not for M.tech student. But M.Tech students get a chance to go abroad for training/internship through DAAD with scholarship covering full expenses and also some fellowship. B.Tech students get chance to go for internship in big companies and they have to go through the procedure which is equivalent to placement procedure. Some of the get pre-placement offer also.

No one would doubt on the placement here in IIT kharagpur. Almost every big company comes to visit this campus. Companies providing less than 5 lpa is not allowed to visit the campus. I don't remember the data but 90% of B.tech students get the job from the campus only.As mentioned earlier B.Tech students get chance to go for internship in big companies and they have to go through the procedure which is equivalent to placement procedure. Some of the get pre-placement offer also. From my department out of 16 students, 14 took part in placement procedure job and 13 were placed. Other two were focused at government job and one of them has cracked IES this year.

Spring fest is the most famous event held every year. The event has a lot of sponsors also. One of the famous celebrities are invited. In last spring fest 2015, Amit Trivedi and group were invited. During the spring fest Kshitij is held which is a technical fest. Competitions are held at highest level during this event Last year around 56000 outsiders had registered for the same. One can imagine how big is this event.

Fee structure is very much feasible. We, M.Tech students have to pay only 60000 for a year and that includes everything i.e. fees, food and hostel charge. Kharagpur is not very much expensive. But the thing is, my parents expect that I should send some money to them. My father is running a small shop. I think after graduation parents are now liability of their sons/daughters.

SBI provide loan at lowest rate possible for 12 years. What more can anyone expect from a bank. M.tech students are getting scholarship from MHRD, so they are not eligible for any scholarship from the Indian Government. First of all, IIT Kharagpur is having the largest campus among all IITs and probably the largest among all technical institutes in India. Other than area inside hostels. maintenance is very well. It looks really nice. You can have a photograph with my campus's premises background and upload in the facebook and anywhere else. Regarding extracurricular, each semester inter hostel competition is held here. Courts and grounds are very well maintained. Labs are very hi-tech here. IIT Kharagpur is known for having resources needed for studies and practicals. There is no way you can skip by saying'it's not available in the campus. Everything can be arranged here in minimum possible time. Competitions like robotics etc. is held every year in the campus. Students from other institutes also participate in these competitions. Hostel facilities are very good except the food. Food quality needs to be improved. Otherwise, any problem in the hostel like fans, lights,washing machine etc. is solved in minimum possible time. Cleanliness in the hostel is also good enough. Sweeper comes everyday for cleaning our room. Caretakers try their best to maintain the hostel's hygiene.

Yes they are very much helpful. i have contacted many of them. They respond to each and every query whether it is related to job, studies, future aspect of my filed of studies, professional life, even the scenario of IIT Kharagpur during their days etc.

Papers are subjective. No optional question is there in the paper. Tow exams are held in every semester- mid semester and end semester exam. Before main exam class tests are also taken. There is some weight-age for the class tests. Some weight-age is for response the class and attendance also. Before the end semester, two class tests are taken for every paper- one before mid semester exam and another before end semester exam.

After the declaration of GATE 2015 result, I had to apply through ERP portal of IIT Kharagpur. I was asked to select 4 filed of study according to the preference. Based on the GATE score I got my first preference, Manufacturing Science and Engineering.

I don't have words to describe how good the professors are. They never discourage us. I think like- how can a man at this level can be so ego-less. No question of disusing about their knowledge. I can't even judge them. But one thing I can surely say, in my during my bachelors degree at BIT Mesra, I couldn't get even 10% of it.
