Remarks

The basic eligibility criteria are that for unreserved category students candidates must have 60% marks in English Hons. For OBC 56%, For SC 45% marks and for ST 40.5% marks in English Hons in 3years needed. Universities take an entrance exam of 100 marks and based on that they publish merit lists. If two or more candidate gets the same marks, the English Hons percentage comes as a 2nd tie break and if the admission exam and Hons both are the same then the HS result comes as a 3rd tie break. You have to check the VBU website for all notifications. You will get an application form which cost Rs 1000 and application dates vary. Yes, reserved seats are available for SC/ST/OBC candidates. To get admission here you should have a score minimum of 80 out of 100 and must have above 60% marks in Hons.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I have chosen this course because I have got good marks and I always wanted to do postgraduation from a great university that's why I have chosen this course. We have a total of 58 seats in our PG English department. For UR-23,OBC-16, SC-9, ST-4, EWS-6. We have around 11 faculties in the English department. So the student-faculty ratio is very good. It's almost 5 students per faculty. All of our faculties are highly qualified. All of them have done Ph.D. or M.Phil. As we have got outstanding faculties we got learning experience outside of the syllabus. We are seeing many dimensions of studies. Some of our faculties also take classes by PPT presentation. They take seminars, encourage group discussion, and many more. We have a total of 4 semesters to pass and exams are tough if you do not study. We have around 5 months gap in between each semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

University college fee is reasonably very low compared to any other university. For English and other subjects in the Arts group the first year is Rs 7560 for the GENERAL, OBC, EWS candidates. And for SC, ST, and PWD candidates the fee is 6360. For the 2nd year, the fee for GENERAL, OBC & EWS candidates is Rs 2560 and for SC/ST/ PWD candidates the fee is Rs 1360. University does not need to provide financial assistance after this. Students can get a government scholarship of Rs 24,000 per year. You can apply for private scholarships INSPIRE and many more.

Campus Life

4

Our university organizes some cultural programs like Basanta Utsav(Holi), Fresher's welcome, Teacher's Day, Independence Day, and many more. Our classroom is very good with all kinds of modern facilities like sound system, projector enabled room, the rooms and campus are very clean and pleasant. We have hostel faculties for students and we have a central library with is heaven for studious people. It's a huge building with thousands of books. We have some seminars in our department and as well as in the auditorium room. We have a dedicated laboratory computer room and we have a dedicated sports board in our university. So every year annual sports were organized and all around the year yoga, different sports activity happens.

Placement Experience:

Most of the placements that took place at least for the literature departments ended up with people joining educational institutes and NGOs. Very few joined corporate enterprises like Accenture. But it does provide almost a 5 LPA, if well placed. It is academically rigorous, therefore academics are weighed more than industry.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for applying for internships after the 3rd semester, and students can apply for placements only after 4th semester. Companies like Ericsson, Ernst and Young, JPMG makes visits our department for mostly analyst roles for economic and fundamental trading decisions. The highest offer made was 45LPA while the average is 7.5LPA. The median pakage is 8LPA. Almost 90% students secure placements after completing their degree since the Training and placement cell is pretty proactive in securing good company visits. I plan for investing and analyst roles in banking companies. I would sit for placements hoping for the same.
