Heavy Inputs,Minimal Outputs

Although college life is good, but the way they are going for pg students it seems they bitger the least about them and jsut too demanding as they help in their research work which helps buliding institute reputation but when it comes to their placements college jst moves backwards and students are forced to plan themselves.

GATE (SCORE 400 MARKS IN 2015 MECHANICAL)OPT THE COLLEGE BECAUSE OF ITS NAME AND DIFFERENT BRANCH PLUS PLACEMENT STATISTICS.

The course is not designed so well because branch is related to design but in order to fulfill credits and thier faculty usage, even subjects related to other branches are taught which make it boring and out of need. Research area does not stand good because of non availability of proper desired resources, the only thing is above the sky expectations from students.

College is not providing stipend, we are getting it from government. college provides it to 1 non gate student in each branch n that also only 25 % of what gate qualified get.

As far as I have come across from seniors and records after coming to university the placements for post graduation are almost zero whereas graduation students get average packages. Variouscom0anies like Tcs, wipro, Lg, whirpool, Tata etc. Come for placement for graduation wheras for pg sometimes institutions do come but companies are no where om the list or sometime in very rare case an unknown company with no standards and very less package do arrive in which a pg student mostly does not apply.

This is only thing that takes place alot in this cillege. Everyday there is some event in college for which mostly graduate students indulge.Youth festival,celebrity and hostel nights, cultural fest, youth festival, everything just give them idea and they WL arrange it for you. They never want you ti feel bore in campus after their grilling part.

As far as fee structure is concerned its a bit too expensive for graduation like almost 250000 per year without accomidation and there is always hikes every year and for pg its half of that which is alot more than other colleges. Nri fee structure is even more than that almost 1.5 times but for them its worth spending i think.New programs in collaboration with foreign universities takes approx cost of degree to 12 -14lakhs without accomidation inclusion.

There are some scholarships for graduation students based in their performance in exams wich result in 25_50% fee reduction to 3 deserving students from each branch but for pg students ni such schmes or nothing.

Gender ratio us pretty good if we look on full University data and that is because of large no. Of students in cse and biotech branches.Lot of societies are there which helps to explore your interests.Student partues are arranged frequently which bulids stronger communication.Great diversity of religion,race everything and no issue of raaging or something. On that part its some of best places to spend ur stydy periosld of life.

Hostel facilities at thapar are awesime because they have some class hostels with large capacity and mind blowing mess but it also comes at great costs for which student has to pay approx. 10000 per month without a.c or anything and for pg students they do not provide hostel so you have to arrange accomodation outside which will be less expensive than hostel charges but it will add to youe hectic schedule because you cant go everytime to pg or room for food or other works in ur free time.

Not so good, They dont arrange anything for that which might get you intouch with them.Persobal intercations with seniors can ve made which wi llstand out perfect and some them help you out of way which adds to relation building part of Institute.

Schedule is more than just hectic at this stage, Main aim is to just grill the student and nothing else, sometime they even dont give you time for food. No proper datesheet n schedules. They are just designed like they want to take some old revenge from students, in summary they demand everything from student side without thinking how will it impact us.

Faculty mostly comes from Iit and their own products i.e. thapar doctorates. Some of them are really good but others just show off. Some teachers teach subjects which are out of their scope which results in loss of knowledge and learning of students. In regard of pg student every teacher wants that he gets best out of student which also helps him buliding his own reputation as research guide and get their papers publish. Apart from that they do not bither to put effort for placement or something.
