Remarks

There is lot of internal politics which need to be get rid off in order to take college to next level.

Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE,state rank was 194 out of 10000 students,I opted for metallurgy.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

1st and 2nd year curriculum was hectic in which you have to share classes with other branches also, afterwards it was bit relaxed, one semester includes industrial training which was helpful in providing industrial experience.

Internships Opportunities

College internship was good,i got the oportunity to work in BARC mumbai in corrosion laboratory where I got stipend around 3K and the overall experience was good I got motivated towards research and published one paper in international journal.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement is not a problem once you entered into PEC chandigarh,I got three jobs from PEC. One in core field one in IT field and one in consultancy.

College Events

4

We have PECFEST whose annual budeget is around 40 lakhs which is always one of the dominating fest in north india after IIT delhi. Participation of around 50K students is observed every year during PEC fest. Tech fest is also planned every year with participation from near by colleges and schools with attractive prizes for teams performing well in competitions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Funding was under central government. Fee structure is not that much expensive. When I was studying fee for 1 semester was around 22k which was less expensive as compared to private colleges at that time.

Fees and Financial Aid

Top three students in any branch used to get 50k scholarship annually. In your first year if you score more than 9 cgpa you will get chance to upgrade to other branch. Loan facilities are easily available from SBI and PNB in college campus.

Campus Life

3

Speaking about gender ratio it was 30 to 3 in metallurgy as expected in core branches. There were lot of parties between junior's and senior's to increase interaction between them. Lot of cultural societies like press club, dramatics club, music club, robotics club etc. Lot of sports facilities like indoor badminton court. Opportunities to play with nearby colleges.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostels was good, everybody has single room plus hostel has lot of facilities like pool, table tennis, common room with carom board etc. All hostels are wifi enabled. hostel rooms are in good condition with personal balcony.

Alumni/Alumna

We have Facebook group where we share everything with our senior's and junior's. We have annual alumni meet every year where we discuss how we can contribute for betterment of college.

Exam Structure

2 mid semesters carrying around 40 % weightage and internals around 20% and end semester around 40% weightage. Exams are hectic as during mid semesters there will be two exams in a day which is bit hectic but on the other hand your exams are getting over

Faculty

2

Faculty was good but there was too much friction between professors. Lab standards was not upto the mark but changes are taking place but very slow. Less motivation for research as a professional carrier.

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
