Remarks

There's no entrance exam for any discipline. One needs to score 50% in their H.S only with relevant subjects for the course one wants to apply. I had PCMB in my H.S and I opted for B.Sc Microbiology by filling out the application form on the college website which was very low. Then waited for merit lists to come out. There is a reservation for SC/ST/OBCs but I opted for general. Got selected in the second list. Then needed to report to the college students' section.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The faculty is quite cooperative. Before Covid, all the lectures and practicals were conducted routinely. During everything was online. As obvious practical experience was hampered. Lectures are usually delivered by using ppts and the faculty is pretty thorough about the syllabus. There are 6 semesters in my 3 yrs. Course and there's one midterm exam between the semester end the sem exams. End sem exams include written papers, viva, practical scores and midterm exams only include written papers. If books and study materials were followed properly it's not really hard to get through exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are quite affordable as it is a Government College. It's around Rs.1600 to 1900 per semester as of any science discipline. For other disciplines, it's even lower. Female students can avail the Kanyashree Prakalpa according to the T&Cs of the program. There's no other scholarship program available directly from the college. As it is an academic course and not professional there's no internship or placement but faculties are helpful about it to guide through what can be pursued further after Bachelor's degree and what kind of job can be availed. Also, there are lots of webinars are held so students can help start their careers with their help of them.

Campus Life

3.5

There's an annual fest named Dhun is conducted every year and inter college sports competition is also held among the colleges under the same university i.e WBSU. It's pretty enjoyable and energetic to participate in these. There's one general library and departmental libraries in every department. Books variety is vast in the general library and most of the important books needed for course papers can be availed from departmental libraries easily.

Other Applied Colleges

Barrackpore Rastraguru Surendranath College, Bethun College, St. Paul's Cathedral College | B.Sc Microbiology, B.Sc Psychology, B.Sc Microbiology

I got an early admission in this Bidhannagar College before the other colleges and the fees of this

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was well-structured, and each semester, there were projects and presentations that also helped to test our knowledge. I got influenced as the curriculum provides us with financial economics, political economics, and Applied mathematics. The level of the exams was decent, related to the course. They could improve in teaching more practical knowledge and projects related to that, instead of only learning in a theoretical way.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.
