Remarks

After completing my B.sc I have admitted to the same college for M.sc in this same college. College does not offer post-graduation in every subject but if you have completed graduation in Mathematics you can do your MSc here. The election process is very simple. They take admission based on graduation marks. Seats for post-graduation are very limited. So you have to get good marks in your Mathematics honors subject. There are only a few seats available for minority & other's university students. The admission fee was around Rs 14000 and the process was completely online.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

After completing a BSc from the same college it was quite obvious I will do complete my MSc. I want to be a professor of Mathematics. So I had taken this course. We have around 26 students in our college and we have 4 professors from our college and 4-5 guest lecturers. So our student-faculty ratio is very awesome. All of our professors are highly qualified and have done P.hD. They teach us every theory in detail. They have taken regular practical classes. Because of covid, most classes are online. Exams are not very difficult to pass and we had to give a total 4 semesters in two years

Fees and Financial Aid

The costs of study are very much reasonable. The total cost of study in 2 years is around Rs 30000. Every semester you have to pay around Rs 6000-8000. College does not provide financial help but there are a lot of scholarships available for all the students. You can get SVMCM scholarships if you get 53% marks and your family income is less than 2.5L per year. If you are a girl having 45% marks you can apply for Kanyashree Scholarships. If you belong to a minority like SC/ST/OBC then you can get OASIS scholarships.

Campus Life

4.5

Our college does organize many cultural programs every year. However, when I was in the first year of my MSc college was completely shut down. But we have celebrated many seminars and programs online. However, before covid, I have seen that our college organizes big cultural programs many students participate it with a lot of enthusiasm. Other than that Rabindra Jayanti, Independence Day Teachers' Day, etc were celebrated all around the year. We have a beautiful campus with a beautiful garden in front. In the back of our college, there was a pond. The classrooms are very airy and have enough space. We have a big air-conditioned hall room where many programs are organized. We have a very good library with a huge amount of books are available. You can find a book in the Maths section. We can take a book home or study there. The room atmosphere is very peaceful.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.

From the 2nd last semester, that is the final year, students become eligible for campus placements. Last year, two of our seniors got placed at Reborn Child Development Centre (Durgapur and Asansol) with an average package of Rs 200,000. This year, three students of our batch, including me, got an internship for three months at Reborn through an in-person interview.

Biotechnology is a highly demanding course in today's world. The syllabus for this course is mostly around bookish knowledge and you have to gather outside knowledge on your own. There must be an internship for every student arranged by department itself in various other institues or labs for practical work experience.
