Remarks

First, you have to pass graduation in Mathematics with a minimum of 45% marks. Then you can apply for MSc here. However, the competition is very high. If you general candidate like me you have to score at least 80% marks in Mathematics honors. Our admission process is based on marks. That's why it's really important to have outstanding marks as seats are very limited. However, if you score little bit low marks but if you have a minority certificate you can get admission as some seats are reserved for them. You have to fill up the application form on the West Bengal state university website. They will publish several merit lists within a short period and you have to pay the fee of Rs 5900 as soon as you are on the merit lists. They will not give much time for document verification. Everythings happen very fast that's the only drawback in the admission process.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I love doing Mathematics since childhood. I have got good marks in mathematics honors. Now my aim is to complete MSc and become a professor. We had about 7-8 faculties and have more & less 42 students. So the faculty-student ratio is 6 students per one professor. Obviously, all of our faculties have done PhD. They took regular online classes and they used to encourage us to learn this subject deeply. They always encourage active learning. They used to take feedback from us to know students better. We had 4 semesters in Msc. Obviously, if you have to study a lot like 5-6 papers every semester. So you have to work hard to get good grades

Fees and Financial Aid

Our university is slightly cheaper in terms of fee structure. We have to give around Rs 6000 per semester. So the total cost of the study is almost Rs 25k. Fees do not hike very often There are many governments and private scholarships available for PG students. We have SVMCM(Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means), Kanyashree Scholarship, OASIS scholarship, TATA scholarship, Jindal Scholarship & many more. However, our university approves only one scholarship within many. No job campusing was taken place here for any department

Campus Life

4.5

Honestly in covid times we did not celebrate many annual fest since university remain closed most of the time. However we did celebrated Saraswati puja and Teacher's day. We have organized a virtual cultural programs. Our university campus is very awesome. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Our library room is the best. I have not seen such a beautiful library in my life. It is very clean, well decorated with colorful rack and lot of space for studying and air conditioned room.Yes in our university there is lot of indoor and outdoor sports activity available. We have student union group

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.

From the 2nd last semester, that is the final year, students become eligible for campus placements. Last year, two of our seniors got placed at Reborn Child Development Centre (Durgapur and Asansol) with an average package of Rs 200,000. This year, three students of our batch, including me, got an internship for three months at Reborn through an in-person interview.

Biotechnology is a highly demanding course in today's world. The syllabus for this course is mostly around bookish knowledge and you have to gather outside knowledge on your own. There must be an internship for every student arranged by department itself in various other institues or labs for practical work experience.
