Remarks

I got admission into the National Institute of Technology - Calicut, in 1999 through Madhya Pradesh state-level entrance test called Pre-engineering Test (PET), right after my Class - XII results. Those days, there wasn't the concept of a common entrance exam like AIEEE. So, each state used to conduct their entrance tests wherein some seats would be allocated for each NITs (formerly Regional Engineering College, RECs), based on one's rank in the test and the availability in that NIT, the candidate would have choices. Based on my rank, I got a Civil Engineering graduation seat in NIT-Calicut.

Frankly speaking, for my rank I had only two options - NIT - Calicut -Civil, or Electrical in our local private college. My dream was to study in an institution of repute to gain better exposure, not only in studies but overall personality development. So, I took this decision. Faculties were highly qualified and experts in their areas. They followed practical teaching methods blended with theory, making complex topics, interesting and easy-to-understand. Exams were semester-based, so four years courses had 4x2= 8 semesters, each having 6-7 subjects. Exams required a lot of preparation and dedicated effort to secure good marks.

Fees and Financial Aid

NITs had a reasonable and affordable fee structure. Stipends or financial assistance were offered to the needy. Otherwise, for middle-income families, these colleges were a boon - good curriculum and faculty, great placement support, and excellent infrastructure at affordable cost.

Campus Life

Annual fest 'Ragam' was organized each year filled with fun and frolic. Students from other colleges also used to attend to participate in this cultural fest. Besides, there were clubs within the institution for enhancing literary skills, hobbies, sports, and adventure. NIT-Calicut has a rich library housed with books of all engineering streams and subjects, one could learn and clarify their concepts in any smallest of the sections.

from semister 6 students become eligible for campus placements and companies loke bank of america , google microsoft etc visited for campus placements and the highest package is about 54 lakhs where as average is 11 lakhs and about 98% of the students are placed

Placement Experience:

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Average student experience at amrita

Placement Experience:

As of what i spoke to the seniors they said that AI students got better placements compared to Core students and the average package is around 9LPA for CSE branches students and 7LPA overall for all the branches and there is CIR foundation classes where they teach us how to improve our communication skills and How to create a resume right from first year itself according to seniors it is very helpfull

An aspiring first year student’s review

Placement Experience:

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.

I have choosen this college because it is of top 5 NITs and i am getting a good branch. I have apllied for remaining top nits also, but i got this for my jee mains rank( i couldn't make to other top nits because may be of lack of good preperation for jee). When compared to remianing NITs, this college has everything that every other NIT also have, the sports facilities here can be improved. Life at NITC by Vimosh Kumar

I wanted to get into Mechanical Engineering in any of the top NIT's so applied for all the NIT's in the NIRF ranking order with mechanical in every college so after the counselling happened to get into NIT Calicut. The admission process is through JoSAA Counselling where students come to the college after getting alloted but before that the student needs to clear the JEE Main Exam to get admitted into the college. A student's perspective

Accordind to NIRF rankings this is the top 27 Engineering college in India and top 3rd NIT. Admission process is only through JEE Mains Exam. You need very good percentile to join this college. Nit Calicut very good placements too....Read More
