Remarks

B.Sc Chemistry was the eligibility of my post-graduation. The admission is undertaken by the University of Kerala through online allotments. For that, we should apply online. There is a small fee for that. We can pay it through online transactions. I have 87.44% during my B.Sc, So I got merit admission. This college was my first option because I knew about this college and its efficient faculties and infrastructure at the department. There were government fees of 6000/- at the time of admission. I had a KPCR fee concession, So got the amount returned after 1 yr. The bad thing I have looked at there is, they receive 5000/- as a college development fund during admission. I strongly oppose that thing, because as a poor family member like me, it was very difficult to pay 5000 over the basic government fees.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I am a chemistry lover that is why I am choosing this course to become a chemist. There are 8 faculties in the department and 120 students in B.Sc and M.Sc section in chemistry. 5 of the 8 have Ph.D. and 2 have post-doctorate. The remaining 3 are doing their Ph.D. The teaching at the M.Sc level was really different and interesting. They gave the training to mold us as the master of chemistry by self preparations and practice. We are the teachers of our class. We refer to textbooks at libraries (3 libraries. Main, department, research lab). The most difficult portions were taken by teachers in a high-tech way. The teachers arrange international and national seminars. Exams were conducted by universities. That was really easy for us because our department faculties also conduct unit tests and 2 level model exams before semester exams. And provide a minimum of 2 weeks of study leave before exams.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I have done my summer internship at the University of Kerala, Karyavattom campus. Similarly, my friend did their works at Delhi university, Kannur university. Our seniors did theirs at NITs, CUSAT, IISERs, NIIST, etc. My project was " Case study on Mg- Carbon-based Salt Water Fuel cell ".

Fees and Financial Aid

We have a KPCR fees concession. we get a return of the payable amount fully. The scholarship was given by the government. They inform us of all the details to apply. I got a Suvarna jubilee merit scholarship of 20000/- (10000 per annum). There is financial assistance for the semester toppers.

Campus Life

3.5

There are annual cultural and sports meets. They are usually conducted from January - March time. We have a very nice library. They digitally and conventionally provide journals and books to refer to. The library is very well maintained and books are very nicely arranged. The use of the library is very easy and comfortable. They have huge collections. The college is well known for sports. Our students regularly won national, state, and inter-university level competitions. National Service Scheme functioned at the campus. But it was for undergraduates. Not for postgraduates like me. The unit got university and state awards

Obviously this physics course is tough but the influence of the teachers and other staff made us too motivated and the systematic exam schedule helped us to complete our portion before the exams and there is some more time for the revision purpose.. There teaching method are so useful and they treat us so politely and in friendly nature. So its too easy to clear doubt and feel comfortable to ask them and clear anything.. Its so helpful for us to complete our exam nicely...

Remarks:

JEE Rank was the main factor. The facilities like hostel, labs, etc mentioned in the IIT Palakkad website. During the allotment process, one senior girl student of my branch contacted me and cleared all my doubts whether it was small or big, placement details, etc. After the rankings were released, based on the previous years cut-off ranks, I was able to get a fair idea about the colleges I would be able to join among all the IITs, NITs, IIITs. Based on JEE Mains rankings, NIT or IIITs can be chosen. Based on JEE Advance ranking, IIT can be chosen. Also, 2 mock allotment will take place which gives a fair idea of which allotment we will get. These mock allotment will be based on our preferences. We can change them after the mock. Then the actual allotment will start. Once we finalise our preferences and lock them, there will be 7 rounds of allocation. 3 options will be given in each round-Float, Freeze,Slide (details will be clearly mentioned in the website). Once you are allocated a seat in any round, document verification will take place (seat acceptance fee must be paid at this stage).
