Remarks
You can get into Jadavpur University only by taking the WBJEE exam conducted by the WBJEE board. It is a state level exam. Hence 90% of seats are reserved for West Bengal Students. After getting the rank you have to apply for counselling. The counselling is generally held in 3 or 4 rounds. To join Chemical engineering you need to secure a rank of around 1000.
Course Curriculum Overview
Chemical engineering in Jadavpur University is the oldest in Asia and third oldest in World. Jadavpur has one of the best Chemical engineering departments even now. Faculties are just awesome. They all have PhD or higher degrees. They are very supportive and evaluation is done throughout the course. Class tests are taken in the middle of the ongoing semester.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are available. But due to Covid, the internship opportunities have been reduced a bit. But still few of our students made it to St. Gobain. Few students also get pre placement offers during internships. If you work hard and you have the required skills, you will definitely get an internship.
Placement Experience
The placement is really good here. Students are eligible for placement from the 4th year. Computer Science has 100% placement. All the circuit branches have an awesome placement. The placement in the core is also good compared to other colleges except IIT s and comparable to top NITs. Earlier placement in chemical was like 87% got placed and highest CTC was around 18lpa. This year it has been affected due to the Covid crisis. But everyone is trying hard to recover things. Core companies like Vedanta, ABinbev, Reliance, Tata etc come for on campus placement. Students also join companies. My plan is to get placed in a good core company. I prefer PSUs.
Fees and Financial Aid
Jadavpur is known for its minimal fees. You will have your engineering undergraduate degree completed in around 11000 Rs. in 4 years. Thus there is nothing to worry about fees. The scholarship is available as per the schemes of Central and State governments.
Campus Life
Campus Life is really good. There are many departments and hence there are many fests and programs. Tech fests like Srijon etc are held. Jadavpur has a rich culture. There is one central library and every department has its library. All important books and journals are available. Classrooms are equipped with smart boards etc. Labs are okayish. The campus building is a very old building Sports events are often held. Tournaments are organised. There are many clubs like Science club, E cell, Literature club, drama club, music club etc. You may join as many as you want. Regular events are conducted by this club.
