Remarks

There were counseling rounds for admission to the college. Counselling rounds were held according to the scores. The minimum age for admission is 18-19 years and minimum marks for admission is above 75 percent in 12th

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose mechanical engineering as I was really facinated to the automotive industry. In Lecture faculty:student ratio is 1: 100 In tutorial classes or lab classes faculty: the student ratio is 1:25 Most of the faculty have completed their Phd Exams are conducted twice a semester: Mid Semester and End Semester

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The internship Experience was good. In mechanical engineering, one has to do an internship in the 6th semester rather than in the last semester which in my opinion is not good for the student as he misses the placement opportunities which companies offer after the internship of 6 months.

Placement Experience

3

Students in the 7th semester are eligible to sit in campus placements till 8 th semester. I think campus placements of thapar university is really good for the past 3 years. But Covid has affected the automotive industry and so as the placements of mechanical students but campus placements for Computer Science branch is really good. In CS branch approximately 90% of the batch is placed. Companies Visited are Amazon, Google, Apple, Flipkart any more for Computer science branch If a student is not placed the college assist you till end of the year after completing the degree which I think is really appreciateable.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees Hike Policy: Academic Fees is increased approximately 10 to 15 % per year Scholarship can be availed if a student ranks in the top 1 percent of the batch One can get financial assistance if he is involved in any sports

Campus Life

4

There are a lot of fests held every month like the Thapar Food Festival, Virsa, and Many more There is a Nalanda Library which has over more than 50,000 to 80,000 books Classrooms are highly equipped with interactive screens, projectors, and fully air-conditioned rooms and having a seating capacity of 100 students There are a lot of sports and extracurricular activites like photography, basketball, volleyball, football. cricket, Lawn Tenis, badminton, yoga, and many more.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

There is a total of 7 hostels both for boys and girls. All hostels have their individual mess where we get breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Most of the hostel contains 2 seater rooms and 1 seater rooms. The registration process for a hostel is really very simple. Once a student got admitted to the college he is provided a webkoisk account and from there he could register for the hostel.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
