Entrance Preview
We had to appear for GDAT which was post the West Bengal joint entrance Examination. So both the ranks were taken into consideration. But architecture was the artsy emotional wing of the otherwise boring engineering. And I loved Mathematics and arts.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure completely prepares you for the practical work developing your base of design. There is a practical training session for 6 months where the industry training is to be taken with design firms which can also be done abroad like italy and Germany or in Hong Kong for exposure to modern or contemporary architecture. Then one may choose design field or construction as per their aptitude.
Internships Opportunities
Training is ideal with industry or private or government design firms. The individual professors intake students for pre-PHD training etc. That is on them what stipend they would offer.
Placement Experience
Plenty and huge array of options. The market is looking for bright young architects and consultants ready to take over. The industry is learning the importance of consultants and architects. Hence it is booming with opportunities and if one is open to ideas and creative enough to let themselves experiment there is huge work satisfaction. You be prepared that this is not going to be a 9-5 job.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The orientation fee of Rs. 5000 sufficed for my 4 year fees, I had to only pay for the last Year. it is Government aided university and the fee is nominal. But in this course the maximum investment i printing A0 sheets and making models etc. We used to manage by giving tuition, training juniors for GDAT etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The merit scholarship provides your tuition fees for the whole course, There is a sports quote for the university. Generally the university rules are followed. There is no specific scholarship for the department. But the mentors, offices that you work with generally retain trainees for the work if allowed by the department which allows to earn while you learn.
Admission
Joint Entrance Examination rank was considered. Then a date was provided for GDAT examination. The ran for this exam was considered. After this the orientation program was organised to fill the seats in Jadavpur and Shibpur. In this Orientation a nominal fee of Rs. 5000 was taken which was adjusted with the course fee for 5 years. There were 10 semesters.
Faculty
Appropriate balance of old and new generation teachers. You need both for an overall insight into the industry. Also, the practice of this profession requires a lot of PR. This is the ideal place to understand the different mindsets and how to deal with them or to assess your level of comfort. Also, they let you make your own mistakes and build amazing ideas out of your fall.
