Remarks
I am from Bihar Patna so I have to get a valid rank on those exams and after counseling, I have to fill a google form and submit a rank card and 1st sem fees payment slip. Then on a particular date, I had to submit all my documents physically to the university. I don't have any quota because I am from another state so. The admission criteria are to hold a good rank in WBJEE, JEEMAIN and the candidate has to gain a minimum of 45% marks in HS Science. The admission process was very smooth, the non-teaching staffs are very polite and helpful.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have chosen this course because it is not a mother trade and students enrolled every year is very less so 1st of all the chance to get a job is high another thing is that I want to work in Iron & Steel industry so this stream would help to achieve my goal in my career. The student-faculty ratio is good. All faculties are minimum education of M.Tech some of them hold Ph.D. and have a lot of thesis papers on their respective field. And most importantly the HOD and Director, TPO all has huge Industry experience and connections. They all are very helpful and teach us in a very practical manner.
Internships Opportunities
They offer very nice internships already we are having training from NML Jamshedpur. And if you choose an internship out of your comfort zone they did not stop you. I have heard from the student coordinator of the placement cell that they have already planned an internship in Tata Steel and Balaji Steel and an Internship on the project at IIT KGP and I am very excited about that.
Placement Experience
The B-Tech portion is new and we are the 1st batch so I don't have any knowledge about B-Tech placements but if we say the Diploma placements it is quite good, it is also new but the companies offer them 17000-18000 per month and it is a quite good salary for diploma candidates. So we are eagerly waiting for our placement drive. In diploma, students get placement in 6th sem but in B-tech it should be in 7th or 8th sem. The basic criteria are to maintain 75% attendance 7.5 CGPA that's it but getting a job depends on the candidate's quality. The maximum number of students get placements except for few ones. My plan is to get a job from here and continue it for at least 5 years then starting my own startup.
Fees and Financial Aid
From my point of view, Fees structure is nominal as metallurgy is quite a high price course in all universities and colleges available in India but if you compare iit with Jadavpur University so you may feel that yes is more costly than Jadavpur. All types of scholarships, Financial assistance are offered by the university nowadays Student Credit Card is highly recommended by the university authority and Kanyashree is also here. They provide us jobs in campus placements but as I am only in my 3rd year I not able to get a job and for that, I have to wait for the 7th sem.
Campus Life
It is a huge campus in Asansol, various departments are here not only engineering but general Hons Ph.D. MSc all is available. so we have a very friendly, competitive campus life here. all kinds of fest, teachers day, engineers day, Vishwakarma puja, Saraswati puja organized by the university authority. The classrooms are really fabulous the are equipped with a projector facility also. On our campus, we have IIE Cell and it has many divisions also you may join as per your choice. Separate common rooms for boys and girls are here. The gym, playing rooms are also here.
