IIM Trichy

I had applied for all the IIMs and except for older IIMs, I converted all the new and baby IIMs. I chose Tiruchirappalli because of the reputation Tiruchirappalli has built over a period of 10 years of run. I did avail SC quota for admission in IIM Tiruchirappalli. The minimum marks required for the qualifying the CAT examination was 65%ile for the SC category and there was no age limitation. I was interviewed by different IIMs and then based on an aggregate score of my performance in CAT and interviews and previous academic exams, I was selected.

I have chosen post graduate program in Management due to interest in different verticals of business, like finance, marketing and operations. After studying for a month, I have developed interest in Operations and Finance. There is around 1:60 faculty to student ratio. All the faculties are PhD holders in multiple streams and case based teaching method is adopted by nearly all the faculties. There are quizzes approximately ecvery week and there will be mid-terms after 4 weeks in a term and end term in another four weeks. If a student is attending the classes regularly, exams are easy to pass.

Internship opportunities are also available for students at IIM Trichy. There are internships offers from different domains like finance, consulting, hr, operations, marketing, sales etc. Every infprmation about the batch profile and the kind of placement and internship studnets get is available at the website.

The placements are good. There are companies for different domains like Operations, finance, consulting, marketing, etc. The highest and lowest package details are available on the college website. The percentage of students getting placed is also available on the college website.

The fee structure is term-wise. Every term at the beginning of it, you are supposed to fill pay the fees. Fees hike is real. Cost to study is great as 18 lakh fees is a bit too much for the middle-class students which form the lion's share of the students at college.

I haven't been to campus yet due to the prevailing Covid situation. Although the books and journals in the library are a great source of learning. There is a rolling board in the classroom. There is a gym, lake, basketball, and tennis court on the campus. There are several student-run groups.

Hostels are single-sharing hostels so privacy is not a problem. You get AC rooms. Laundry service is there and WIFI and LAN services are also provided. There is no restriction in regards to timing. If you're in campus, you can be out as long as you want. The quality of food is not yet tested.

No. I did not face any group discussion. The process was quite simple and to be very honest straightforward. Clear the cut-off for the CAT exam and then we got calls from different IIMs for interviews and after interviews, there was a merit list based on aggregate score.
