Remarks

There are many reasons that I chose this college and it's above the benchmark. In WBJEE, I had a rank of 12150 and I was looking for a govt college keeping in view my financial background. The fee here is 6500/yr which is really feasible. Also, you can easily get a scholarship like SVMCM which will make the program almost free of cost. I am in the Mechanical Engineering department and to get a chance in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering you need a GMR in WBJEE around 9000-13000(Gen. students). To get admission in CSE you need around 6000-8000 and for Textile Technology it goes up to 25000. Placements are best for Textile Technology almost 100% as the college has a strong alumni base. After that CSE has a nice placement. Mechanical and Electrical get 50-65% placement. But GATE performance is really good in our college. One of our seniors has ranked 530 in GATE which is really inspiring. The faculty is really good with a great environment for study. Avg. Salary is around 4-5 lakhs.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose this course firstly because of my interest in the subject and secondly because of its acceptability in any industry. Faculty is sufficient in the college with a teacher-student ratio of 1:10. The faculties are Ph. Ed or M.Tech with a lot of experience. Our HOD sir has been in this field for about 24 years. So they have really deep insight into the professional field. The exams were held routinely as guided by Makaut. The difficulty of an exam depends on one's hard work and passion for the subject. So if you are choosing Mechanical engineering then make sure that you focus on practical skills with proper knowledge of theory. Though the market for Mechanical engineering has seen some decline for few years mechanical engineering is a core field so it has a wide acceptance in a lot of fields. Apart from that jobs in IT and Consultancy is open as well.

Internships Opportunities

4

A lot of our seniors get interns from TCS, Wipro, Crompton, and Greaves, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Hero Moto corp, etc. There are actually a lot of internships offers available not just through college but through other sources as well so it's not a big problem.

Placement Experience

3.5

Campus placements are available. Textile technology gets almost 100% placement from campus.CSE gets 80% from campus. And 50-65% placements are available in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from campus. A lot of students appear in GATE, CAT, public service exams, etc. I also plan to appear for GATE and pursue my M.Tech. The highest package is around 6 LPA and companies like Wipro, Mahindra, Capgemini, Cognizant, Dystar, IBM, etc. have employees who passed from our college. Students get to campus from 4th year onward but sometimes 3rd-year students also get job offers sometimes if they can do a good project.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Tuition fee is 6500/year and the Exam fee is 1200 for every semester. There is a hostel for boys but most of the students live in mess. No hostel for girls, so mess is the sole option for girls. There are many scholarships available like SVMCM. A lot of my friends get the benefit from Scholarships.

Campus Life

4.5

Berhampore is a wonderful city and the college is present in the heart of Berhampore. We have a wonderful Cultural history and a vivid tradition. There are sports teams as well. Football and Cricket are mostly played. We have a Chess club too. Annually we have our Fest Alfresco, Tech Fest, Saraswati Puja, Independence, and Republic days. We have a college Band too named Antaheen. We have our magazine too. In total it's an amalgamation of tradition, culture, and sportsmanship. We have a Tech club and Coding club. One can open a club by consulting the seniors. College life is really excellent and healthy.

Placement Experience:

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft. The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles, finance in some cases. The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.
