Remarks

The admission process was in online mode for which no counseling was provided. There were guidelines written at every stage of the admission form so it became quite easy for us. I didn't have any quota. So, I was tensed about my admission even after getting 93.5% but as soon as the first cut-off got released I got my admission done in Maitreyi College in BA (History) Hons. for which the cut-off was exactly 93.5% but when 2nd cut-off got released, I was getting admission in BA (Sociology) Hons. Which interests me more. So, I transferred my course easily without any complication of payment because it was the same college i.e. Maitreyi College. Only the course was changed not the college. The admission process functioned quite smoothly.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose this course because from the 11th standard itself I have been the topper of my class in Sociology. I find it so exciting and interesting to know about the main part of our lives, the reason for our behavioral patterns, i.e. SOCIETY. Apart from this, I'm also very interested in doing social work. Talking about the faculty of my college, is satisfying. I'll not say it is up to the mark and we don't face any problems. Sometimes we do, but then the faculty is not very irresponsible and quite satisfactory. The faculty is undoubtedly well-qualified and the teaching method is not the same for all teachers. It depends from teacher to teacher. Some teachers just read and explain which I find boring. Whereas some teachers take studies in a practical way, some present videos to make us understand, some keep the class more prone to the discussion, these are some teaching methods I love. If you study hard, nothing is difficult. I studied for my OBE (in online mode) and it went quite well.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of my college is very reasonable. The fee structure of my course is and all BA (Hons) courses are just 6980/year which I think is affordable being a part of higher studies. I have many friends in different colleges and I have seen that my college fee is much much lower than theirs. My college provides many internship opportunities to the students and has a good placement cell. I'm going to be in 2nd year now so hoping for good opportunities in near future too.

Campus Life

4.5

I have never enjoyed the college campus in physical mode. I have always been a part of my college in online mode only, because of this pandemic situation. But I'll say that my college doesn't restrict the activities even in online mode. Online events, farewells, freshers' party are conducted. Fresher's party was conducted for us which of course we didn't enjoy much as it was in online mode. But the efforts of the teachers and seniors made us very happy. Apart from this, our college has many societies i.e. Dance, Drama, Sports, NSS, NCC, Music, Debate, etc. which is run by our seniors and one can get admitted in any of the societies by clearing the audition round. One can leave or swap her society after every year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose political science because i want to go for government exams and political science is an important subject for clearing government exams As per my info, my curriculum is very close to syllabus for exams like UPSC and SSC For improving teaching methods, projectors should be installed and implemented as it helps us to understand and see it more better The frequency of exam is twice a year as semester exam, and exam is not very tough nor too easy, it is medium level that anyone can score good marks if studied well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Regarding course curriculum, I am not satisfied the additional courses like SAC, VAC, AEC have no purpose, they are just a headache which makes it difficult for students to focus on the main subjects, although I am in favour of GE subjects. The marking scheme of 90 marks written paper and 70 marks for internal is also great. Apart from this talking about political science honours curriculum, I will say it is pretty great, there are difficult concepts and bulky material to study from but it could be improved by reducing the weight/ pressure put up by other subjects- sec,vac...

Companies visit are often at our college like Deloitte, wipro , Infosys , KPMG etc but options are wide only for commerce background students they are limited for arts faculty students like me. Highest package is about 6 to 7 lpa while most of the package ranges between 4 to 6 lpa percentage of students getting are average and they are mostly from comm letce and economic or business background. I would go for journalism and choose IIMC for my master's.
