Entrance Preview

I took JNU CBEE, this is an all India entrance examination for MSc biotechnology course in JNU and other 20 central universities in india offering same course. I secured All India rank -2 and opted JNU for pursuing the same course because of excellent faculty and lab facilities there.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

It is excellent. The course offers subjects such as microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, biophysics, cell culture, vaccination technology which gives a effective knowledge in the biotechnology and exposes you towards research. The professors and other faculty members are having great knowledge along with great lab facilities.

Internships Opportunities

Yes. The internship is provided in summers by JNU. The experience is great as this internship exposes to the lab atmosphere and how the work in a lab is done in a smooth manner. The stipend offered is generally 5000 per month and the experience is truly awesome in terms of research experience.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements are offered by companies such as biocon, ranbaxy. Further, 60-70% get placed in research labs as phd students and junior research fellows. The salary offered is 25000 per month.

College Events

4

In JNU the cultural festivals are iraorganised very frequently , and you get to see cultural dances from different states of country such as Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Manipur , Kashmir and from almost every part of the country. Regarding the scientific fest international conferences as well as national conferences are organised in JNU along with many workshops and seminars.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Jnu is a public funded university. The fee structure is very affordable. The hostel fees is also very nominal. A student with normal financial background can study easily in jnu. Overall the expenses for fee range from 5000 - 7009 per semester depending on your course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees at JNU is very less . We are able to pay it by our own. At present some scholarships are offered by government , but from JNU, no scholarships or loan facility are offered. Studying in JNU is like having a scholarship for each and every student.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is great. Different cultures and different people from different countries learn to live together .gender ratio is equal approximately. Extracurricular activities are there, you can enjoy them anytime. Labs are quite good.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel rooms are average comfortable. The hostel rooms are twin sharing. The mess food is fine. The best part is, that in a location such as Delhi, personal rooms or a PG will be expensive, which is difficult for a student to afford. So overall I will rate it as fine.

Exam Structure

The days were entirely planned and hectic at the end . Overall the days were productive . Our schedule was generally theoretical classes for subjects such as biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology from 9am to 1 pm followed by lunch break. In evening lab practical sessions were there, usually from 2:30 to 5:30 pm.

Admission

I took JNU CBEE ( jnu combined biotechnology entrance examination) . Based on that, top 20 students at all india level are offered this university for pursuing MSc biotechnology .JNU CBEE is an exam conducted by JNU on behalf of 20 Central universities in india and exam is about knowledge in different subjects such as biology, chemistry, physics and maths.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is very nice and have a great research experience. The teachers at JNU are known scientists at national as well as international level. The publications in international journals help you in getting a research quotient at the international level.
