Entrance Preview

I gave JEE MAINS 2013 exam and scored 150 marks out of 360. I chose Thapar University due of its excellent academic structure and new improvised courses that were being introduced here. I had interest in automobile engineering so i wanted to pursue Mechanical engineering. But that branch was not available for my rank so i chose Mechatronics engineering branch.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is excellent with focus on fully implementing the technical knowledge being offered and is constantly improved based on the feedback of students and faculty. With the tie up with Trinity college, Dublin, the course structure has been improvised to impart practical knowledge in synergy with the theoretical knowledge.

Internships Opportunities

One semester is dedicated to the industrial training. For Mechanical and Mechatronics students, the internship period is for the sixth semester and for rest of the branches the internship period is either for the seventh or eighth semester. For Mechanical and Mechatronics branch, around 50 companies offered internship to students.

It includes technical events followed by a star night.Other cultural events such as Mudra, Karaoke Night are organized which bring out the singing, dancing and modelling talent of the students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is relatively expensive. Additionally the accommodation facilities of hostels increase the hole in the wallet. The total expenditure for four years comes at around 12 lacs. The infrastructure and accommodation facilities are worth the expenditure.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students securing more than 95% marks in 12th exams are offered a meritorious scholarship of Rs. 1,86,000 on joining the university. The University also honours and offers scholarships to the first three meritorious students of each branch every year. Additionally a bright student from financially inadequate background can apply for some relief.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio is balanced. There are adequate number of male and female students in the college. The campus life is en thrilling and enjoyable. Various activities are organised every day after 5 p.m. The COS complex is a hub for students to spend their leisure time.

Alumni/Alumna

An alumni network is maintained by various societies and it is really helpful. Some students get chance to gain internship experience due to the alumni links. Efforts are made to sustain the relations in an amicable way.

Exam Structure

Exams are conducted for two times during the semester : Mid Sem Tests and End sem Tests. The assessment is done on basis of these tests, short quizzes, lab evaluations and regular class performance in tutorials. The grading system is relative, which means the student getting the maximum marks gets full grades.

Placement Experience:

As a BE Computer Science student at Chandigarh University, placements are decent but depend a lot on individual skills. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester, and most of the placement process happens in the 7th and 8th semesters. Many companies visit the campus every year like Microsoft, Amazon, Cognizant, Capgemini, TCS, Infosys, Wipro and some startups as well. There are a good number of offers made, especially from mass recruiters like TCS, Infosys and Cognizant. The highest package claimed by the university goes very high, even above 40 LPA, but those are for a very small number of students. Realistically, the average package for CSE students is around 5 to 7 LPA. Mass recruiters usually offer packages between 3 to 5 LPA. Around 70 to 80 percent of students get placed if they are consistent with coding and preparation. Those who depend only on college studies may find it harder due to high competition. The university also provides training for aptitude, coding tests and interviews which helps in preparation. After completing my degree, my plan is to get placed in a good product based company. At the same time, I am also focusing on improving my coding skills and working on projects so that I can aim for better opportunities or even higher studies if needed.

I exactly don't know but after 4 th or 5 th students are eligible for internship and placements. Generally in 7th semester 90 percent students grab their internship. Many companies visit on campus placement like Capgemini, Amazon, Infosys, TCS, Microsoft and many more. Highest package offered is 64 LPA by Microsoft and lowest was 4 LPA. Almost 90 percent students get placed by 8th semister. I also want to go to a MAANG company after getting my degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1) I want to go in construction industry so i chose this field. 2) Currently our college curriculum is updated so its relevant i will say around 70 to 80% . 3) For improvement Faculties should be brought from all over india as professors here are only concentrated from ludhiana itself. and labs are very old it should be upgraded. 5) In a semester there are 2 monthly exams and one end semester exam. 6) As far as difficuly level of exam is concerned it is not much difficult if someone solved PYQ thoroughly.
