Remarks

Dyal Singh College is one the best college in South Campus in Delhi University. It has one of the best teachers in the Economics faculty in comparison to another college on the south campus. The infrastructure is very well maintained. But one must have above 90% to get into college. The cut-offs are really very high. The NIRF ranking of the college is 21 and A+ grade college, which is also an important fact that is to be considered while choosing. Also one can never face any problem in terms of accommodation, as both metro and station are nearly located. Also, the college is nearly located in various beautiful places like Lodhi Garden, Humayun Tomb etc. I have chosen this college because of my course, accommodation its high NIRF rank.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Economics Honors is one of the highly reputed courses in Du and one can have various opportunities in career if opted for this course. The scope is very wide in this course. But one really has to score very high to get into this course. Noe coming to the teaching faculty, it's excellent. The teachers are highly qualified and very helpful. They took their classes very seriously. They are very helpful and help even at odd hours. One really has to work hard to score well in the examination. You cannot rely on the last minute preparation, notes should be prepared beforehand. The level of exam is fairly difficult. If one doesn't take the course seriously he can even fail the exam.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

There are wide internships offered in the college. The Placement Society is very good as it provides excellent internship opportunity ranging from unpaid to paid work. I have done 4-5 internships since last year. Once can earn 6000-7000 per month from internships. I have done an internship as a content writer and research analyst. Most of the opportunities offered are part-time but some are offered for full-time work as well. Most of the opportunities are offered for the role of Social. Media Marketing, Content Writing, Policy Research, Campus Ambassador etc. The internships are of great help in college life as they help in personality development.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are an average at Dyal Singh as there is no 100% placement in this college. Students are generally eligible from the 6th semester for campus placements. Most of the reputed companies like Accenture, Decathlon, Zomato, HP come for placements. There is a 70% possibility one can have a placement. The highest package offered last year in my course was 15LPA and the lowest package offered was 6LPA. Most of the study generally plan for higher studies in Economics. I have also planned for Masters in Economics once I complete my graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is very less. One just has to spend 30,000 for the entire 3-year programme including all the library, admission, development charges etc. The fees are really affordable. Moreover, you can easily earn as the Placement and internship opportunities offered are really great. I had myself done 4-5 internships in the last year ranging from unpaid to paid internships. The college best in terms of affordability.

Campus Life

3.5

The college has a very well maintained infrastructure equipped with good wifi connectivity. Also, the environment of the library is very calm. One can go anytime to study, it has all the journals of writers and there can be easily issued. The campus life is really good as there as many societies like Enso, Enactus, Resonance- music society, Roots- Dance society, Rotaract club etc. Besides college societies, there are individual department societies as well. One can never get bored. The is NCC, shooting training is also given at the college. Although there are various department Fests are organised. The best fest is organised for Commerce society. But when it comes to college fest I can vouch for the fact that Dyal Singh really lacks in the as fest are not much of great fun here, no big personality or star night is invited.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

So I have been residing in Stanza PG located in south campus college. Its located near to my college. The PG facility is excellent, the room is fully furnished and the hygiene and sanitation is very well maintained. The quality of the food is great. Three meals are served for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Special dessert for the dinner. I am really satisfied with my PG.

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The curriculum was overall good and being a economics honours courses it was challenging at times. The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason why I choose this subject because I like history and want to know more about it . History have the best opportunities to pursue the UPSC , Anthropology, archeology and we can learn more about historical researches . The faculty im the department of history is updated and well versed in the field of history and have adopted student friendly teaching methods which make me suggest this subject in JMC to the students who likes to pursue higher studies in history. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester with moderate difficulty level .
