Remarks

Good : Admission process is quite easy consisting of 1 exam PUMDET, followed by declaration of results on the website, 1 day verification of documents happen. Nice professors, good lab facility, class conditions very good, all equipped with AC and projector, syllabus made in accordance with NET syllabus, course helps to learn new techniques that will be useful in upcoming years(for PhD)Bad : Presidency keeps a quota for old B. Sc students and also takes new students through examination, this creates a divide as ex-students consider themselves to be superior, that creates tension amongst students and sometimes dirty politics as well.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Faculty at Presidency is great. They're always ready to help. They give the best excursion. PhD scholars are also so helpful. We can approach the professor's anytime for clearing doubts and they're always ready to help. Another good thing is they pay heed to their students' requests. Professors here are highly qualified and have done their PhD and post doc from reputed places both from India and abroad. Professors here focus solely to try and make students understand the concepts rather than memorize it. They encourage us to take internships at other institutions/colleges/Universities. They're always ready to give a lending hand. So, overall your experience here would be fruitful.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I joined a lab in college to learn new techniques. My seniors and professor helped me a lot. I got the opportunity to have hands on experience on various methods and machines used in molecular biology.

Placement Experience

0.5

There's no such provision so far. They're trying to bring new companies. It would have started this year only, but due to the pandemic this event could not occur.

College Events

Fests are a joy to attend. Food, dance, shows are just awesome. Library is perfectly equipped with computers and books. Everything is very organized. Classrooms have AC and projectors. They arrange an annual sports event where professor's also take part. There're a lot of clubs for students to take part. Students do relief work also. We can participate in any such clubs/social groups according to our choice.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Cost to study is quite minimal. There are a lot of policies for scholarships and the University provides various financial assistance. Even transportation concession are also given. Although there are no provision to get jobs on campus.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I've not stayed in a hostel but my friends have. The hostel accommodation for girls is separate from boys hostel. They provide transportation facilities too. Meal quality is good and menu is wholesome. Registration process is quite easy and the students get priority based on the distance of their home. There're a lot of PG facilities around the premises also.

Admission

Yes there's a written examination before admission. It's an MCQ exam named PUMDET. Basic B. Sc syllabus is enough to prepare for this exam, only the concepts have to be clear.

Placement Experience:

Actually this is a general degree University , so I must mention that placement facalities are not so good. But yes , Job Fair is organised in University by some external agencies which offer jobs varying 2-2.5 lakhs per annum . But in the university most of the students do not accept that jobs. Half of the students are more interested on the higher studies. So ahet completing the fourth semester they prepare for PhD. And the another half are preparing for central government sponsored exams like CGL, CHSL, RRB, SBI , IBPS, LIC etc. University has a significant number of students who have qualified for Government Competitive exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.

From the 2nd last semester, that is the final year, students become eligible for campus placements. Last year, two of our seniors got placed at Reborn Child Development Centre (Durgapur and Asansol) with an average package of Rs 200,000. This year, three students of our batch, including me, got an internship for three months at Reborn through an in-person interview.
