Life in a Medical Course

I applied for the NEET exam. This is an exam for medical entrance conducted all over India. Through this, I have occupied a decent rank to be admitted in a govt. medical college. I choose this institution as per my counselling procedure. Indeed this college has a previous record of making good students over 65 years and serving patients as a hospital for around a century.

Following my passion and dream, I chose the medical field as a part of my life. The faculty to student ratio varies from department to department depending upon clinical exposure of the subject. It is around only 1:20. All faculties are highly qualified with the minimum degree of having MBBS and house staff-ship experiences. All our faculties had a plethora of experience under their belt. They prepare us to be competent with medical education and system. Exams and terms are dependent on internal and university exams. Internal assessments are arranged in a three months gap. Along with many part exams and formative exams are taken regularly. University exam is organised at the end of the year as a final examination. To pass the exam, consistent reading, performance and dedication are needed.

In a medical college, every student must go through an internship program where he or she has to deal with patients. A ward experience is gathered through the internship. Saying about the stipend, it can be around Rs 20000 to Rs 25000 per month. The student has to avail internship of 1 year to get his/her degree.

As going through a professional course of MBBS, there is no question for any placements and job. This course simply makes a doctor. With only MBBS, if a person applies for a job, he or she would have a decent package of Rs 60000 per month. Taking higher studies by getting an MD or MS course the amount can reach up to 1.2 to 1.5 lakhs per month with promotion.

The refundable one time caution fee is Rs. 14000. The annual fees for MBBS are Rs. 1,00,000. But being a govt. college the fees are taken out by the government and student have to pay only Rs 11000 yearly. The hostel fee is Rs 2000 including meals. There is a little expensive as Rs 100 a year for hostel maintenance. Fees for fest and programs are taken separately as per expenses. Overall the college is quite feasible and has a great education.

Academically our college has occupied many rewards. It has one of the largest library facility for medical books and journal in West Bengal. The classrooms are divided into large Lecture Theatre(LT) and demonstration rooms. LTs are for large group lecture and demonstration rooms are for practical approaches in small groups. The university understands the need of students to engage in activities beyond academics. The formation of various student committees is an initiative towards combining academic learning with non-academic learning activities and engagements. They are to encourage participation, to inculcate extracurricular activities of students, to make leadership qualities, to give a refreshment from hectic academics and pressure of studies. Yearly at least one major feast named "Synapse" is organised. Annual sports, cricket championships, badminton tournament, football league all are conducted. Facebook pages, vlogging and blogging sites are also included as 'social media programs.
