Remarks

I always wanted to be associated with the medical industry and luckily I found Biomedical Engineering which is an interdisciplinary field. NSEC is one of the two Colleges in Bengal that offers Btech Bme. I gave WBJEE in 2018 and got my seat through the counseling round. The admission process was completed when I physically visited the college and filled up all the details. During counseling, I got information from the official college website. NSEC has a green, peaceful campus, good faculty help seniors, and moderate placement. Note that there is no college hostel and the location is remote.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Biomedical Engineering is an emerging interdisciplinary field that has huge prospects in the future. As I wanted to be associated with the medical industry, I chose BME. Our department has highly qualified and experienced teachers who guide us throughout the entire course. Apart from semester studies, they encourage us to do projects, participate in hackathons, do internship/training, convey info about exams like GATE, GRE, TOEFL. Our teachers adopted a blend of conventional and modern teaching methods that is effective. Currently, there are 60 seats in Btech Bme, so the faculty: student ratio is quite good. Unit tests and semester exams are conducted which are of easy to moderate difficulty.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

BME students mostly do hospital pieces of training starting from 2nd year and there is also an Industrial Training that occurs in conglomerate like Siemens. Students are also allowed to do off-campus internships. Students are also insisted on doing more projects especially hardware ones which results in better understanding.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students become eligible for placement after the 5th semester. Companies like TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Siemens, Amazon, ZS, Thoughtworks, Medtronic. BME department has more than 90% placement percentage. The highest package offered is 12 LPA while the average package is 4 LPA. Many students opt for higher studies abroad. I have already cleared GATE BME and so after getting a degree, I want to pursue a Master's degree and research in India/abroad.

Fees and Financial Aid

Btech Bme is a 4-year long course that is divided into 8 semesters. Semester fees are generally in the range of Rs 44,000. All together, fees for the program is approx Rs 4.01 lakh. In my opinion, it's not so expensive considering it's a private college. You can also opt for TFW if you qualify, then your semester fees fall in the range of Rs 3000.

Campus Life

4.5

NSEC has a huge central library that has books of all courses and topics. It also has an air-conditioned reading room. The campus is well decorated with lush green and a fountain and is quite peaceful. Tech Fest Avenir and cultural fest Mesmerizer are there, BME has their own departmental reunion SRITI. Sports club organizes annual tournament for table tennis, badminton, carrom, football, basketball, chess, etc. There are also Photography Club, Rotaract Club, Google Developer Club, and official Tech Club Phoenix. There is also an Entrepreneurship Cell. The classroom has all the basic amenities like a projector.

Well as far as mh knowledge students get to placements from 6th semester itself . Well there are placement classes from 3rd semester itself . The placement track record of the college is quite good with most year about 90% gets placed with good companies comming like Deloitte, EY GDS , JP MORGAN, Oracle , offering high amount of placement offers like around 20+ lpa . Well I am not sure about my plans maybe if the palacement is good I'll take it or will be preparing for GATE (Whose courses are also provided from college .)

Since I'm in first year so I don't got into my specialization that much , but from my knowledge we are getting knowledge about all domain in a portion which will help us in our future . This also helps us to decide that specifically which domain is best for us . Since I'm in first year so I didn't have my exams yet because of the late admission in college the reason for late admission was stay in admission by the Calcutta Highcourt due to some issues on reservation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

-> CSE is the main stream because under this, other courses like Cybersecurity can be learned as extra courses, while still learning things that are very important like DSA and DAA. -> Everything is taught slightly fast and students have to keep up everyday. Even one class missed will be heavy on studying. -> The mic quality in some classes are bad and should be improved. It's impossible to understand what the teachers says when using them. -> Usually term exams start one month after the start of a semester, with the Semester exam being held 3 months later.
