Remarks

Good aspects: the college practices on more practical knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge. The campus is spread over a vast area and has a large field for any sports enthusiast. Bad aspects: no hostel facilities are provided. Placements are a task. Admission process: the admission process is generally on the basis of merit or entrance exam(DUJAT) as any other college. Generally after the 12th board results are out the DU portals are open for filling in the details in order to check whether one could get admission or not. I personally chose CVS over other DU Colleges is due to its practicality, its environment, the infrastructure and vocational courses that it provides which are usually not available in many other colleges. Quora reviews and du.ac.in helped me while selecting this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I choose this course because it provides knowledge of a specific field in which I want to make my career. Also, it focuses on 70% practical knowledge and aims at providing employment in the specified field. The faculty-student ratio is about 19 it is generally less in other colleges as compared to COLLEGE OF VOCATIONAL STUDIES. The faculty is well educated as well as innovative in its ideas to educate the students using different methods in different scenarios. The teaching methods used are general class teaching and at times online education like in the covid scenario. The exams were lengthy and required much skill to pass through the questions were all derived from the books themselves but the time limit required fast analysis of the question and required prompt answering.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

College provides for internships and companies like HCL, DELOITTE offer jobs at a basic lower-level staff with a stipend depending on the capability of the individual. There are major tasks that are to be performed that are directed by the company itself that include well knowledge in computer languages.

Placement Experience

3.5

For campus placements, students become eligible with a CGPA of 6.5-7.5 or above and after 6 sem ie third year. I have not visited any companies because of the covid situation which led to online studies. The highest package is about 12 lakhs pa and the average package around 2.5 lakhs pa with around 400 companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Around 70% of the students get placements. I would prefer to do further education and then aim at getting the job I am aiming for.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee of my course ie B.Voc Marketing and management of insurance is Rs10,000 per semester the cost of studying is comparatively cheap as you would expect from any other DU college and generally online material of the course is freely available or notes from the teachers also help which overall reduces the cost of study (like the purchase of new books is generally avoided). There is no scholarship or financial assistance as I am 1st year and have not seen any of it to date.

Campus Life

3.5

The annual fest of the college also known as TATVA and Tech fest known as CODOSTAV are both conducted on different dates but in the month of March only. The library has a large set of books but at the same time, there is selectivity in the genre as mostly there are fewer books relating to the same genre. The classrooms are normal as you would expect of any general private school with normal chairs and benches. The college is well known for its extracurricular activities and major sports events which take place on regular basis in the college itself. There are various clubs such as Mercado, Rotaract, Samvaad, time travellers etc there is no such website run by students as far I personally know.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements from 4th or 5th semester. Deloitte , Bain & company, PWC ,EY, Grant Thornton (for consulting services) offer the highest package to roles like analyst and accountant. Other companies such as ICICI Bank, Kotak securities , Inshorts , Urban company,HUL, Wipro,ITC hotels , Appollo Hospital etc. the highest package recorded in 2024 was 23.05 LPA and average package as 6 LPA . 85-90% of the eligible students get the placement, the data might vary as some students opt for 4th year for their research work. My plans after getting the degree lie in marketing or consulting field.

I to be honest don't like my course much but it's not too bad also , it does allow you to have a practical exposure along side your studies. As the pressure of syllabus is not much. Teaching methods are not too good also but not bad too. The difficulty level is not much.

It needs to make it better in the project and application department. They need to work on some real life projects.
