Remarks
Goods aspects of PGDAV college would be well connected with public transport, apparently the biggest canteen of DU with good quality food at nominal rates, decent teaching faculty, a big fully air conditioned seminar Hall, All kind of sports facility along with a big playground, Computer lab, Library, well established college societies, Clubs to explore extracurricular activities and Placement cell with lots of career opportunities. Bad aspects would be not so well developed infrastructure (under construction), bad reputation because of politics during elections and a bit cheap crowd in few courses. The non-teaching staff is rude. The admission process is smooth and the faculty is cooperative you just need to be well prepared with required documents and admission dates. The reason for joining this college might be if you're not getting any good south or north campus college then you may consider PGDAV. It's better than many off-campus and evening DU colleges. At least you'll get the DU tag.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was from a commerce background and interested to study business aspects, so I took up this course (B.com P). PGDAV's faculty of commerce department is excellent and professors are well qualified with mostly having PhD degrees and experience of teaching in top DU colleges like SRCC. In the first year, there used to be classed with more than 70 students and this goes on declining with subsequent years but not the quality of teaching & number of lectures. teaching methods of some of the professors were so good that I still remember what I had studied. PGDAV college is affiliated with the University of Delhi so exams are centrally conducted as per the university's schedule and rules & regulations. Passing in these exams were not so hard and anyone by studying overnight can easily pass the exams but to score well you need to put in little efforts in internal as well as external exams.
Internships Opportunities
Placement cell keeps coming with internship opportunities for first and second year students mostly off-campus. Roles offered were Marketing, sales, social media analyst, operations and HR with a competitive stipend. It also organised an internship fair converge last year which saw Participation from hundreds of companies including LIC, JIO etc. Offering various internship roles.
Placement Experience
Students from the first year itself can avail themselves of internship opportunities and for campus placements only final year students are eligible. The placement cell of PGDAV college is very active and keeps students updated with good career opportunities. Top corporate companies like EY, deloitte, wipro etc. Visited for campus placements. Number of offers and packages offered by these companies are fluctuating every year and can be accessible on college website. Not every student sit for placements so percentage of students getting placement could be lower. Profiles offered by the companies visited were not good enough except for some companies like EY. Not every student placed with good package, profile and company. But you can easily get job offer slightly lower than your expectations. I got some jobs offers from campus but I prefer to try for a job from outside after graduation and I got so.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure was mentioned in the prospectus issued during admission time. Fees of B.com was 13750 in the first year and 12500 in the second and third year which is comparatively little higher than the other average DU colleges. There was no such thing as a fees hike policy. Fee waiver policy was available for students from reserved categories and having an annual income below than a certain limit but you need to complete all the required paperworks to avail this facility. Placement cell keeps coming up with good paid internship opportunities.
Campus Life
PGDAV organise its annual cultural fest aaghaz in the month of February, stars like raftaar, Milind Gaba, the local train, zaeden, have performed in this fest till now. Along with that various departmental societies and other societies organise their fests. PGDAV has also got a library fully air conditioned and it's being claimed that it has books and journals more than the central library of DU. Students can avail books for a stipulated period of time. Old building classrooms are needed to be upgraded. Classrooms in new building is well equipped for persons with disabilities. No air conditioned rooms. Lift is available for faculty and PWD only. A big well maintained cricket ground is there along with basketball and volleyball court. Indoor games facility is also available. Recently it got a gym. Drama, dance, singing & other department and social clubs like NSS and enactus is there to explore your interests. NSS pgdav is one of the oldest society of university.
