Remarks

I chose Dyal Singh College as this college is located at the very centre of Delhi, it has got its own metro station (JLN stadium) which is 0 metres away from the college, bus stands on every side of college and close proximity to every area in Delhi. DSCians also enjoys the likes of the beautiful Lodhi Garden which is a 10 minutes walk from the college, Humayun's tomb which is 2 bus stands and a 20 minutes good walk with friends which make it, even more, better, Indian habitat centre on a 5-minute walking distance and of course our favourite Khan Market for shopping and eating. Not to forget the fests and events happening over the year in JLN stadium-like, The GRUB Fest, Horn OK please, etc. are one the many. The admission process is quite simple a student has to carry the required documents when the cutoff matches with marks then you have to take the college prospectus and fill-up the form within it and submit it. I got to know about Dyal Singh College by Siksha.com, Collegedekho.com, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Being from a commerce background with maths as a compulsory subject I chose B.Com (Hons.) To gain knowledge in the subjects. Also, I think that this course is pretty informative and useful for our future prospects. The faculty in my college is very knowledgeable and they believe in practical knowledge. The faculty to students ratio is good especially in the commerce department which is one of the biggest department in our college both faculty and students wise. The ratio will be 1:25 (according to me). As I mentioned earlier the faculty is very knowledgeable and they believe in practical knowledge more so the learning experience is very good. The term exams have a different scale of testing students knowledge and patience. The exams are held in two semesters in a year one from May-June and another from Nov-Dec. If a student is only attending classes he is able to pass the examinations.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The college placement cell provides many internship opportunities throughout the year. Mostly start-ups offer internships which are good for gaining knowledge and skills with and without stipend. Roles usually as digital marketing, analyst, assistant, etc are offered in internships.

Placement Experience

2.5

Students become eligible for placement after the 4th semester from here on they can apply for placements in companies. Many companies come to the College for campus placement such as EY, KPMG, TCS, Genpact, McKinsey and they make a very good amount of offers for students. D.E. Shaw came into college and made an offer of 17.5 lacs p.a and the median salary would be around 4.5 lacs p.a. The percentage of students getting places is low due to a high number of students and less of companies. I plan to get placed in a company first and gain knowledge and experience which can help me in future.

Fees and Financial Aid

Dyal Singh College's fees structure for B.Com (Hons.) Stands as rs.13750 in the first year and rs.10000 (around) in the second year and Rs. 10000 (around) in the third year as well. If a student is from Delhi then it will be very affordable for him to study as the tuition fees of college is very less compared to private institutions. There are also scholarships for underprivileged students like NSP (National Scholarship Portal), different schemes for backward castes. The placement cell of the college is very active too they provide internship throughout the year paid and unpaid both.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual college fests called PRIYADARSHINI and it held around late February to early March every year and there are many departmental fests too. The commerce department fest is called COMMUNIQUE and it is one of the best fests in our college. The classrooms are equipped with hi-tech projectors with other basic amenities such as fans, lights, blackboard and desks. The college has a huge playing ground with students practising for their respective sports. Famous sports such as Kabaddi, Cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, etc. There are many societies in college which are run by students such as enactus, enso, Finanza, tcc, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course provides a comprehensive image of finance and management, though after NEP, the curriculum seems a little irrelevent. The exams are conducted twice in a year, 2 sems per year, they conduct mid sem exams as well.
