Remarks
After clearing CAP, I checked every IIM website at par, contacted alumni of some colleges through Linkedin and found that IIM Raipur was my best bet of all. The fee structure is better as compared to others and has got a very good student exchange program. The campus is awesome. The ROI is relatively better than others. The location is also good since it is situated in the capital city. The placement is also good. Every student manages to get placed with a decent package.
Course Curriculum Overview
During the first year, students are exposed to basic concepts of marketing, finance, quantitative method, operations, strategy through the core courses. These lay the foundation for all the functional areas of management and help the students develop an intricate understanding of the different facets involved. In the second year, students choose from a range of electives to concentrate on functional areas of their interest. The areas offered at present are finance, operations, marketing, human resource, strategy and general management.
Internships Opportunities
Everyone gets placed for a summer internship with good stipends. For the batch of 19-21, there were 140+ recruiters offering an average stipend of Rs 88,139/- and the highest 3,91,000/-. The batch size was 269 and everyone got placed through campus. However. there is also an option to apply off-campus if you are getting a better offer. For that one needs to apply for NOC.
Placement Experience
Every student manages to get placed with a decent package. The placement committee works hard to achieve it. There were a total of 150+ recruiters for the batch of 2018-20. The average package offered was 15.2L, the median package offered was 14.78L and the highest was 46L. The final placement starts towards the end of the 4th term.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for two years are Rs 142400/-. The institute has made arrangements with nationalized banks to provide loans for all needy students to finance the educational expenses. Interested students may apply for the loan to only one of these banks. The institute does not bear any financial or other obligation connected with the loan either to the student or to the bank
Campus Life
Campus life is one of the most important aspects that MBA provides but unfortunately we could not have it from the beginning. IIM Raipur has 13 clubs and 9 committees. Being a member of clubs and committees is fun. You get to interact more with your colleagues. The late-night discussions for organizing events are fun. The campus also has a swimming pool, sports complex etc. The annual fest is karmaanta and there is also section wars which add a cherry to the cake filling our campus life full of joyous moments.
Hostel Facilities
It is a residential course so staying in a hostel is compulsory. There are a total of 5 hostels. Every hostel is equipped with radiant cooling, an attached bathroom, bed, table and wardrobe. There is a common mess. The meal is quite good.
Interview Experience
IIM Raipur is a part of the CAP. After clearing CAT, I was shortlisted for CAP. It consists of two rounds, the first, is WAT followed by PI. The topic for WAT can be anything under the sun. And since I was fresher, I was mostly asked about my subject related questions and about current affairs. Following the newspaper is really important. And if your state has some unique history, you should do thorough research on it.
