Remarks
XLRI has the best course in Asia for Human Resource Management and enjoys an excellent reputation in the industry. The college has a smaller batch size compared to many others which is a plus point. Our interview dates were between February and March-end. The results were released on 20th May 2020. However, this was majorly due to the effect of the pandemic and results are usually out in the second week of April.
Course Curriculum Overview
XLRI offers the Human Resource Management course as a flagship program. There are some very renowned professors and the course curriculum is designed well. As is the case in most educational institutions, the quality of teaching is a mixed bag. The curriculum is very busy and arduous requiring effort. This leaves no place for lethargy and the demand from students is exceptionally high. However, substantial efforts in the right direction will make sure you succeed.
Internships Opportunities
First-year students have a summer internship placement process. The number and quality of companies are great in general. Roles in consulting, general management and human resource management are on offer for HR students.
Placement Experience
In the first year, all students undergo the summer internship placement process. If an offer of employment is not made during the internship, the student can opt for final placements. The average salary is 25.08 LPA in 2021. 108 recruiters visited the campus. All 100% of the students are placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of XLRI is at par and even higher than most top management schools in India. The scholarships are not many and those that are available are too little. However, educational loans are very easily disbursed from most banks. The final placements are excellent with a few exceptions making it possible to pay back the loans.
Campus Life
The campus is well equipped and modern. The opportunities for extracurricular activities are more than abundant. There are many committees on campus that conduct various events all through the year. The college's annual fest Ensemble Valhalla happens toward the end of the academic year in the month of March.
Hostel Facilities
The campus has hostels that house all students. All students have their own personal room and shared washrooms. The meal quality is medium and overall all the amenities are good enough. The premises are cleaned regularly and students can voice concerns if needed. Apart from minor issues, the hostel facility is good.
Interview Experience
XLRI invites students to the GD-PI-WAT round based on the scores of XAT, its own admission test. There is an overall cutoff along with a sectional cutoff. The cutoffs can be different from males and females, engineers and non-engineers. The GD topic that was assigned to us was - Should salary be determined by want or need? Interview questions were based on profile and also some questions regarding what was said in the group discussion. The panel wanted me to design a system to understand the needs of employees and asked me to furnish ways in which I would meet those needs if I was an HR Manager in an organisation. It is good to be aware of HR-related issues and policies of organisations, especially those that have been in the news.
