The management is very strict towards any unconventional and unacceptable acts performed at the institute thus maintaining a healthy environment in the campus for students to grow and flourish.

Entry into IIEST Shibpur upto 2014 was though the WBJEE and my rank was 1184(GEN) in 2013 although from 2015 onwards after ugradation to INI status admissions are now being conducted based upon JEE MAINS merit list. It is the second oldest institute in India and among the best in the country producing world class alumni since ages, so my choice was quite obvious since the oppurtunities I was entitled to get seemed promising and unparalled.

The institute being one of the oldest and greatest in the nation constantly exercises regular board meetings to keep it's curriculum updates and it's students motivated. One can blindly trust the institute that the course and content it offers in all the departments are world class and as per recent industry standards which is a plus point. The institute constantly engages itself with several govt. Bodies and industries for research and development.

Yes, several companies coming for campuss drives like Tata Steel, CESC Ltd., Texas Instruments, etc. also conduct internship drives for pre-final year students for internship offers successful completion of which produces several PPOs every year. Stipend offered are as per respective company policies.

The placement cell is very active and is constantly engaged in putting in commendable efforts to produce intriguing results year after year. As a result placement is among the finest in the country parallel to the NITs and other reputed institutions.

The institute celebrates an annual cultural fest called REBECA and an annual technical fest called Instruo in the months of march and april respectively apart from these other departmental fests are also conducted periodically with some occasional independent organized events like TedX, etc.

Fee structure for undergraduate(B.E.) course annually are as follows: 10,200 INR(for day scholars) 10,200+1900 INR=12,100(for hostel boarders) hostel fees: 21,000 INR for hall residence, i.e. 3500 INR per semester(6 months) for hostel residence, it is 3000x6= 18000 INR per semester.

The institute has countless activities for students to involve in like swimming, gymming, games like TT, Footbal, Cricket, students amenity center, debate club, drama club, dance club, robotics club, coding club, etc. Gendar ratio is also adequate, say 3:1 and, as a result it provides a healthy growth for the students to grow both culturally and professionally.

Hostel facilities are adequate and the environment is fun and cooperative with occasional feasts and get together parties. Hostel food is pretty and students are elected as mess managers to decide menu regularly and it is mandatory to organize a grand feast once every week on which day biriyani, polau, chilli chicken, paneer, etc. Are provided along with cold drinks, ice creams, etc.

The institute being among the oldest has a diverse and a wide alumni base spread over all parts of the world and the institute boasts a strong alumni-student relationship that is immensely helpful.

Exam structure for undergraduate studies comprises of 8 semesters distributed over 4 years for bachelor of engineering course for civil, elec, mech, aerospace, met, mining, cs, it streams and 10 semesters distributed over 5 years for bachelor of architecture course. Msc., Phd, Mba and M. Tech courses are as per industry standards.

Admission back in 2013 was through the prestigious WBJEE examination and I was was very happy to have secured a rank deserving enough to get myself enrolled at this esteemed institute. We had to report to our nearest reporting centre after the publication of first counselling results post online choice filling prevailing over a period of few days. I was lucky enough to get my seat on the first counselling round itself. Thereafter, I had to visit IIEST Shibpur after the final round of counselling results were out to secure provisional admission and the entire process took one full day but the entire process was completed in that day itself. The institute had good facilities for helping and guiding us through the entire process.

The faculty is unparalled and one of the best the country has to offer.
