Remarks

Well the management is not that great because students don’t hold a lot of rights. Recently we social media guidelines were released by our college where we cannot discuss or defame the college or we shall be thrown out of the college- this is really upsetting

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is excellent and the best recognised in the country because it’s a national institute. It stands to its reputation because we as students are put through industry level scrutiny to prepare us for the tough fashion world. There are many courses to apply for.

Placement Experience

3.5

Frankly that really depends on the kind of work you show to the companies you’re applying to. However we are very aware that our national institute portfolio are always preferred and taken into account by the companies where as the other design colleges do not get this upper hand. Our degree holds a lot of value and reputation.

College Events

3.5

Each NIFT centre holds different fest but we do have a common fest where in all the 16 centres come together and program is held in a different campus each year. This is called spectrum. Other colleges also participate in this fest and competition are held. There are sponsors and it goes on for a span of 1 week.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Frankly speaking any design college is a little heavy on the pocket but because this is a national institute we have the lowest fees amidst the rest of the design colleges in the country- so this is an added bonus for the students and their families.

Fees and Financial Aid

So there is no loan for me since i’m a financially stable student. However there is an option for the reserved category seat students and all they have to is show their documents and parents annual income to avail a partial fee waiver.

Campus Life

The gender ratio is a bit off because we have more females than males. I would say the ratio of females to males is 8:2. Which means 80% of them are females on the campus. Sometimes i really wish there were more men in our college because it would be a nice balance

Hostel Facilities

Yes. It is safer to stay in the hostel especially for people who come from different parts of the country to stay in one particular centre. Different centres have different hostel fees. Since mine is in Kannur, we only pay 45000 annually but those in Bombay pay 100000

Alumni/Alumna

Definitely you have to build bonds with your seniors because as they go in the industry and settle they recommend our names for jobs and this is a great networking opportunity for all us.

Admission

So basically there the admission is separate into 3 distinct parts. The application is online during October. 3 levels of examinations are held! Only if you pass the first two rounds and score above 60 out 100 points - will you be allowed to sit for the 3rd round. The 3rd round is called the situation test wherein you are to build a 3D model on spot with random materials that are given to you. The 3rd part of the test basically decides your national rank. The 1st and 2nd rounds are held on the same day in the month of February and the 3rd round is held in April or May.

Faculty

4.5

They are highly qualified. One of my teachers is an international artist and sells to New York exhibitions. His paintings sell in Lakhs. My other professor is a PhD. So this definitely speaks volumes as to how experienced and skilled they are. They may be very strict but have a very good work ethic.

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

From 6th semester, students are eligible for placements. Our college has the best placement cell in kerala. Around 30% students are placed each year in our college. Companies like federal bank, infopark invites students from our college for their interviews. The degree mark is not considered, all we have to is just pass the subject and obey the rules of the placement cell.

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
