Great Experience at NIFT

The course. The first year is mixed every department students are shuffled together. And taught the basics of everything in the first year. Second year is when we start having department classes.basically it was basics of our departemnet. In my case we were thought knitting. Embroidery. Pattern makings. Print design everything. And also basics of stitching. And it just gets deep and deeper in 3rd and 4tth uear. after 3 rd year we have to do a 2 months summer internship as a design intern in any company. And this provides us all insights about industry. And 4rth year. 2nd sem that is the last sem of the course. 8th sem. We are supposed to so a graduation project of 4 months. We can either do the GP at any company. Or do our own design collection(DC) which should be funded by ourselves or we can apply for scholarship. The collge clases are from 9 to 4 mon to sat

There is 2 compulsory internship in the course. One is a 2 month summer internship after 3rd year.a nd one is a 4 month graduation project during 8th sem. The faculties will give us mail ids of differnt companies. And we can choose and apply for internships. We can also apply anywhere we want if we can get the deliverables based on college guidelines. If are not able to get one by ourselves. The faculty mentors will help us get one.

The placements are avialable for 4rth year students. It starts around 8th sem middle and a lot of companies come for placements. Well the ratio of getting placed is less. But the college adds us to official whatsapp groups after graduation and keeps seniding job opportunities forever.

There is security deposit you have to pay when you take admission in the college. Which is a12k or 15k. Which you ll be getting back after your convocation. And the fees is sem wise. Its is the same for a batch irrspective if the departments. And the fee increases by 10% (not really sure) every year. The fee is different for every sem. Approximately 1.5 lakh per sem or 3 lakh per year (approximately). This fee included all facilities provided by the college. That is developemnt fee, lab fee, library and everything. There is various scholarship that you can apply. That provides almost 100% of the fee if eligible. There is scholarships availble for all categories. But there is various conditions for it. Like attendence. Marks. Your family background. Their is national scholarships, state wise ones. You can basically apply for anything. But only get one scholarship. Some of it is sarthak, egrantz etc., The college gives medical allowance for students if they are injured within the campus.

The campus is pretty nice. Its one bulidng with all the clases. Its a 8 floor building. And there is another one with the labs for TD department. The college has garment construction labs in 2 floor. Patter making lab. Mac lab. 2 computer lab. Canteen with recreational area. Amphi theatre. A auditoruum and 2 hostels. And there is always some celebration or actuvities going on in college every week.

You have to clear the NIFT entrance exam first and then get qualified and then atend the situational test. And based on the rank there will be a councellimg session where you ll alotted the college you want based on the availability of seats. Knitwear design interested me and it have good oppurtunities in future. Its a raising industry and hence that.

Each department has 6 to 10 faculties i think. And the faculties are pretty friendly. And you can go to them for anything and everything. There are some faculties who wouldnt take classes or anything and asked uus to watch youtube videos for clases. The examss in nift is not really exams. Out of my 4 yr course i had 4 or 5 written exams. Exams are called jury. And its where you ll be given a prohect either indivitual or group work and you have to present your project to a jury panel including faculties who doesnt handle the particular subject. And they grade it based on the project and how we answer to the questions they ask. Its basically a presentation. And for final jurys. The jury panel will have external faculties. Reputed people from the industry valuing our work.
