Remarks

It is a renowned college in Delhi University, one of the prestigious college which is located in the center of Delhi. The proximity to bus stand and metro stations is very convenient. Also, it is NAAC accredited and highly suggested by the aluminas. I opted for this course majorly because I didn't want to pursue engineering and I didn't have Biology in class 12th which narrowed down by selection process. Also, this course was new and has a high demand in the food sector as food is something you can't get rid of even in the adverse conditions. At that time it seemed to be amazingly exciting to pursue something different and not following the norms.

Course Curriculum Overview

The syllabus got updated in my inirial phase of second year due to many similarities and double explanation of the same topic in different subjects during 2nd semester. Faculty is experienced, well knowledged but still some discrepencies are seen. Less of practical exposure is a major breakdown. Foodtechnology is nothing without practicals though the experience gets better till one completes 3rd year.

Placement Experience

1.5

Food tech department is only 2 year old in Lady Irwin College. Therefore, there is no record for placements here. We believe in the college and therefore hoping for some helping placements in the near future. Also, the placement cell is newly organised in the college. But no placement cell has been put up yet.

College Events

5

Its on another level, Lady Irwin's events are well managed and organised. They are known for the security they provide and the annual cultural fest of Lady Irwin College- Quintessence is known all across. Other events from annual day, alumnas events and many other cultural and educational events are cherry on the top.

Campus Life

Its amazing, well lush green grass, two lawns, basketball court and our gossip spot "amphitheatre". The wi-fi is also available. A well equipped photocopy machine but no availaibility of getting coloured printouts. Library is something one can get spend hours in with books, journals, encyclopedias and lots more. The infrastucture of the foodtech department is still not up to the mark. It is under renovation, hope to get a new building soon.

The course curriculum is really very good, its updated and far better than even many renowned institutes. Along with your core CS subjects, there is also a minor stream which you'll have to select. The minor streams that they offer are Management, Computational Biology and Electronics. Students can enroll in any one based upon their preferences.

Placement Experience:

There is a placement cell within the colleges but numerous are not dynamic and those who are dynamic do not offer great arrangements. As it were Srcc , LSR or St. Stephens offer pleasant placements. Most colleges offer arrangements between 3 - 4 lacs but over said colleges can give you situations with normal 8 lacs. But, I would prescribe you to not go for placements but higher things because it will increment your information and assist you to advance in your work and do it effectively whereas doing work fair after graduation will not allow you to regard merely continuously needed in the corporate world.
