Remarks

One of the best Universities offering specialization in International Relations at a very less amount with the best faculty members. Attendce is not compulsory- a benefit that allows many students to pursue internship alongside their regular course. I opted for the course especially to pursue my career either in Civil service or in the teaching profession. It's a course that has enabled me to understand more about the affairs of the international world. The tendency to continuously learn about what's going around us what's happening across the globe, to research and learn about diverse issues and their underlying core dimensions. The tendency to learn more and more about new issues and offering solutions to it. The journey of this 2year full time degree has been about researching on diverse topics, know the underlying root causes of the issues. International affairs has always been about challenging the world and this course has enabled me to understand these challenging concepts.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course has always been an updated one. In fact our professors have time and again instructed us to keep a check on current affairs and include them as much as possible in the answers. Regular interactive sessions on current affair topics were a part of class discussions. We were provided enough industrial exposure to research on current topics and that has been immensely helpful. Faculties especially to name a few Prof Kakoli Sengupta, Prof Iman Kalyan Lahiri Prof Abdul Matin have always undertaken initiatives that provided enough exposure to us. They always directed their topics to relate those with current issues across the nation and the globe. They have been the best professors ever.

Internships Opportunities

I was chosen for Gandhi Fellowship offered by Piramal Foundation but it has laid back due to the current Corona situation.

Placement Experience

3.5

Mostly Ngos to name a few -Pradhan, and Media based internships like Zee networks amd Gandhi Fellowship offered by Piramal Foundation etc have visited University campus for conducting placements. 4-5 people are chosen per internship because the selections process is very tough. alumni networks and the placement department works closely to ensure a smooth process of the interview and the whole process.

College Events

5

As far as Extracurriculars are concerned My university is quite ahead for it organizes biggest fests ever to name a few - One of our departmental Conference is International Relations Scholastic Conclave (IRSC) which takes place every year calling various university students to participate in various sub events in it be it debate or paper presentation. Another huge fest organized by the university Engineering faculty is Sanskriti calling various dikebsios-Danxe Music, debate, paper presentation so on and so forth.

Campus Life

Campus infrastructure pertaining to library includes 2 libraries One is the Departmental Library the other is the Central library -Both libraries are huge spacious and air conditioned with access to updated books, magazines, journals, e-books, e-journals with access to wifi. As far as Sports event are concerned the university keeps all kinds of sports tournaments for it's students.

Placement Experience:

Number of students who have been placed is far less than what it should be ideally. Kolkata is a paradise for law practice as it is the largest city of India and lawyers have always been in demand here. Still only 30% of the students are placed here and that's a big issue considering the name of our college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main thing that I love about the curriculum is that we need to study in depth. Our syllabus contains most basic to really professional level stuff which really help us prepare for real life experiences and further academic pursuits. The only change i would like is more practical experiences that would be helpful.

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for campus placements from third year that is after 5th semester. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant and IBM are amongst the mass hirers. Almosy 80 percent of the students get placed every year and the top 10 percent of the students receive high paying job offers. The average package is around 4.86 LPA and in 2023, the highest package was 16 LPA and in 2022, the highest package was 44 LPA. Talking about my future plans, I wish to pursue my masters abroad after completing my undergraduate course here.

As I mentioned, the course curriculum is outdated and no new industry knowledge is being taught. Projects and assignments are also bookish and are just for sake. Teaching methods by teachers are also bookish and backward. The frequency of exams are after every 6 months and are pretty manageable and easy.
