The Alma matter of Jadavpur University is world class. Nobel laureate like Amartya Sen and many renowned scientists all over the world are alumnus of Jadavpur University. Placement statistics is top notch with 100% placement in reputed companies. Research quality is high quality with exceptional professors to guide on any domain. Ranking is very good be it NIRF Or THE rankings. It's among top 10 universities of India.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum covers overall development related to both corporate sector as well as research. Subjects related to Mathematics are present for 5 semesters and changes to syllabus is done keeping in mind the needs of the industry as well as research domain. Internships are a part of the curriculum availed by the Placement cell. The faculties are highly educated and highly supportive when it comes to the sake of students knowledge. Lab works are well designed for proper application of the knowledge gained. And the professors are more like friends to the students. This teacher-student friendship culture is an eminent part of Jadavpur University culture.

The Entrepreneurship Cell of Jadavpur is quite active and has helped development of many startups through its history.

College Events

I have been part of almost every programme held in college be it cultural or technical and clubs at some point of time. Club culture of Jadavpur is known to everyone. There are more than 8 clubs and societies directly running under the Director of Youth Welfare, Jadavpur University. The Arts department of Jadavpur University as well as clubs organize various activities which represent and uphold the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of Jadavpur. Tech fests are organized by Engineering and Science Faculty students which are quite successful and famous throughout the city. Photography club of Jadavpur University is world famous and one of the oldest student run clubs in whole of India.

Likes

One of the things i liked the most was the quality of lecture given by the professors
The campus is very spacious the college has every facility
A fully equipted studio and lab for Journalism students

Dislikes

Things i disliked was the most has to be the locality the college is really nice but the locality is a bit shady

I always wanted to take up Journalism as a career and the thing which caught my attention in this college is that they have a fully equipted studio room and other colleges may have one but the students even publish there own news report here it prepars us very well for the real world

Supportive Faculty - The professors are highly qualified, approachable and always willing to help students
Free wifi support - There are free wifi support for both student and faculty
Fee Structure - It is very affordable and low compared to other colleges in the region

Dislikes

Placement support is below average, and most studnets have to apply for off campus jobs independently, which is really pathetic in the era of ai where getting a job as a fresher is so difficult
There is no dedicated support or placment cell initiative to help studnets land meaningful summer internships or any kind of internships

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements starting from the 7th semester. For placement drives, we have to visit the main campus, Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL). Since students from other Techno India campuses and branches also participate, the competition is extremely high. In the 2025–2026 academic year, fewer companies visited. Only two companies, Dronahost and WishCare, visited our specific campus directly. The remaining drives—mostly service-based companies like TCS and EY, along with a few startups—were conducted at the main campus. The remaining drives mostly service based companies like TCS, EY etc and quite a few startups has visited to main campus. The package they offered mostly in between 3.5lpa - 6 lpa. Furthermore the selection process of those startups is quite rigorous often consisting of upto 5 rounds of interview, two technical rounds with two technical interviews, and HR round My plans after getting the degree is either pursue an MBA or preparing for govt jobs

The everyday journey

Likes

I liked the campus . Their people and faculties are too great , they are also helpfull
The other thing i liked here is the play ground where students play with full of their energy and many game events are organised ocationally
The other thing i liked is the library where everyone use to study silently with poking others

Dislikes

Bad benches , like benches are too small to be fitted in our class I
In our department ac doesn’t work properly

Nothing specific just the campus attracted me Curriculum is preparing me for the real world approach and its doing good enough the academic pursuits is good Teachers should teach in a good way so that every student should understand Frequently the timing of exam is 3 hrs but sometimes it takes 1 hrs

Faculties are helpful and kind and the classroom environment is healthy
Classroom, labs and libraries have proper infrastructure
Certificates are provided for participating in conferences or extracurricular activities

Placement Experience:

Placement is provided in final year . Average package offered is 3 to 4 lpa . Paid internship is provided in 3rd year and the placement percentage is more or less ok. After complication i will either pursue Msc or look for a job.

Likes

The campus is big and full of greenery with the vibrant feel of nature.
The students of the same batch are friendly and helpful.
The teacher's are friendly and helpful. They do provide helpful recommendations for the betterment of your future.

Dislikes

The seniors are overly harsh when it comes to 1st year.
The infrastructure could be worked on. The college lacks renovation.
The hostel does require everyday cleaning and renovation as well as the campus.

Placement Experience:

I don't know much about this but I guess from the sixth semester the students are eligible for campus placements. This year a student from AEIE got a package of 11.2 lacs per annum and the average is around 4 lacs per annum.

Likes

The faculties are very good and very active. They are always ready to help
Campus is very beautiful and nice. Campus may be a little bit smaller but it is beautiful.
Environment is very good. And have a natural's beauty

Dislikes

Location is a thing which may difficult to find out.
Number of faculties are small quantity due to the college is newly established
Because of the college is new so therefore not huge like any NIT or IIT

Placement Experience:

After 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements. There many service based companies visited like TCS ,Cognizant, wipro, Infosys. Almost 60-70% student placed in on campus. Highest package offered by TCS 9-10lpa and Cognizant 6-7lpa wipro 6-7lpa infosys 10lpa etc. 60-70% student getting placement I will go for placement

Placement Experience:

The University Provides Placements options for the students from the 3rd Semester onwards. For the Department of Geography Companies like - GeoDesign and Research PVT. Limited, Wipro, Acadecraft Pvt limited, Cactus etc. are there as recruiters with an average package of 3 LPA. University takes a target to 100 % placement among then almost 60% are placed and rest of the students mainly go to the research field.

The Pros and Cons of Joining Jadavpur University Masters of Arts in Economics

1) I applied for Delhi School of Economics, however couldn't manage an admission due to the extreme cutoff on CUET exam for the same. I had confirmed admission from North Bengal University, however it was not feasible since I had a choice in Jadavpur University. Jadavpur University has the best rank among all other colleges I had a confirmed admission to, so I chose this University. 2) I wanted to study in Delhi School of Economics, but couldn't make it there due to the extensive cutoff in CUET which I unfortunately couldn't clear. 3) Jadavpur University conducts its own internal exam for admission into its esteemed Masters of Arts [M.A.] programme. However one can get through by CUET exams as well, however that needs a decent score. The cutoff in the internal exam is around 70% for General Category and for CUET, the cutoff varies yearly....Read More
