Remarks

I have no other option left. and also my parents were pressuring me to join a b.tech college so i choose this. Although i applied for UPES Dehradun but due to it's bad reviews i didn't go there. Also i applied for NIT Kurukshetra but my chances were less for admission in my desirable branch. So i decided to go for this one because it was the easiest one and safest one at that time.

Course Curriculum Overview

Let's start with faculties. So the first word i wanna say that there is just zero connection between teachers and students. Teachers don't understand students and vice-versa. Because we can always blame teacher, sometimes it's us who are wrong and we don't confess. Now talking about curriculum, i can say it's fairly good. Not the best but almost good. Finally the academics, ohh man i can just tell you everything about the academics but it will be horrible so I don't want to disclose it here

Internships Opportunities

No, i haven't opted an internship

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements and job opportunities can be find anywhere if your profile is good enough. Secondly it depends on market Like nowadays, mechanical engineers are struggling to find a job and if someone is lucky and get the job, the salary is pretty low. So it comes to the point that what is reason of studying in so high priced college if you are not getting a good job.

College Events

5

You see when it comes to campus life, it always depends on ourselves whether to choose a best college life or worst. In both secenerio, we ourselves are the prime ones. Speaking of my campus life, it's amazing like i have never experienced such i have here. The events, the culture, the greenery and so many other things.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of any of such thing. Because i didn't go for a loan. But i know ine thing, SBI and ICICI, both gives loan to thapar students very happily. They both have their on campus bank also. I got to know about this on my first day of counselling.

Campus Life

Campus infrastructure is pretty good specially the buildings that are made. But talking about the old ones, they are now just like basturd to the college like they never take care of them. and unfortunately those old buildings are given to mechanical, civil, MECHATRONICS and electrical students. The new buildings the exclusive for COE, ENC students. I don't know to what extent it is fair but i have to clap for my college.

Hostel Facilities

Well for 1st year it is disgusting. Because the hostels given to 1st year are the oldest hostels like 90s. But the good part that they are making new hostels for 1st year so fingure crossed. As you grow and go to 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year, your hostel also get better and better. And the 4th year hostel is just amazing. A complete 5 star. For girls as well as boys. But i dont have any regarding hostel. Because no matter what is the condition of hostel is, you are going to have a great hostel life.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
