Remarks

The incredible faculty and reputation of the college drove me to work hard in my 12th examination which landed me an admission at this phenomenal institute. The diversity of the college is its biggest strength. Once you enter the gates of LSR, you are exposed to a world of varied mindsets that will help you broaden your perspective on relevant political, social and economic issues.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

My course syllabus was extensive and dispensed knowledge on all key areas of the journalism field. However, it lacked giving practical knowledge of this professional course to a great extent. Although our curriculum included major assignments like producing TV documentary, Radio documentary etc, we were not given good guidance to complete the process. Mostly, we had to figure out everything from script writing to video editing on our own. There was also a shortage of technical equipment given the batch sizes

Placement Experience

1.5

Like I answered for the previous question, the placement scenario of this particular department was really disappointing. It lacked giving us the kind of exposure that is required in this professional field. Profiles that were offered to us were mostly of proofreading or content writing. They didn't exclusively have a lot to do with Journalism or the theoretical knowledge we received. The salary packages offered to students of other departments like Economics and Bcom were always very high and their placement rate went as high as 80%. A lot of companies that came to our campus just wanted to associate with students of these departments and not others.

College Events

4.5

The college had various societies or groups that one could be a part of. It is also was very active in participating in inter-college competitions. Whether you are a dancer or an environmental activist or simply someone who loves to teach, LSR always has something to offer. During my college days, I got an opportunity to be a member of India's biggest youth-run non-profit organization called BloodConnect. It helped me serve families or patients in search of blood donors by helping them connect with the right people.

Campus Life

4

A modern building was recently constructed when I had taken admission. The infrastructure is phenomenal in terms of quality and space. However, equipment in the media lab are really less considering the size of the batch. The library is quite large and has plethora of books on different subjects and topics. The reference section was our saviour during the examination period where we used to study for long hours without any unnecessary interruption. The thing I loved about the campus was the cafeteria that served the most scrumptious food for all taste buds.

Placement Experience:

Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is just like any other college, and you need to do a lot of the skill enhancement by yourself. Here, you will learn something, but not everything that is relevant. The professors will teach according to the syllabus, be it really relevant in real life or not. Everything that you will be learning will be relevant for career in this field, but not enough. You require to put some extra efforts to gain more knowledge and practice.

Placement Experience:

Students typically become eligible from 3rd year/6th semester onwards for most companies. Some internships and tech roles may be available to 2nd-year students depending on the company criteria. Placement Percentage: Usually, 70–85% of eligible students get placed, depending on the stream. Highest placement rates are often in Computer Science, Economics, and Commerce streams. My plan is to become a software engineer.
