Entrance Preview
I attended the CET (Common Entrance Test) in 2002. I got a rank of 5245 out of around 30,000 ranks. My elder sister had done her Telecommunication from DSCE (Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering), and she had a good experience. So, i followed her advice and joined in.Also, DSCE was in the TOP 20 Engineering colleges list back then. So, suited me well.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure was designed by the University - VTU. So this has got nothing to do with the College. About VTU - Gave a good exposure to analytical thinking. The transition from 12th to 1st and 2nd year, is made easy by continuing with subjects like Physics and Maths and a smooth transition is made in to engineering with subjects like MES, Signals & Networks, etc.
Internships Opportunities
Well, for our internship, we had to search for companies on our own. Don't know how it is now. Some of us found companies and some of us did our own projects. Stipends might have been up to 6,000 INR, back then.
Placement Experience
Well, at my time, around 2005, almost 25 companies came in for placements.I remember attending 17 interviews.Back then the highest offer was up to 2.6 Lakhs INR.Almost 60% of my section got placed. It was a mix of big companies, mid scale ones and small ones.
College Events
There was an internal cultural fest that happened every year, called Dayanamix. There was also another one organised for other colleges participating. There was sufficient freedom to participate in other college events. The technical events were also frequent.I remember an extensive training program for recruitment. That was very helpful
Fee Structure And Facilities
Back in 2002 - 2006, i remember paying around 13,500/- in fees per Year. At that time, this was very affordable.Plus some exam fees and blue books and other expenses would come to 20000/- in total. Now, due to Comed K and CET and Management quota, i think the fees have gone up a lot.General merit is still affordable, so study well and do well.
Campus Life
Gender Ratios - I think it was pretty okay. Male/Female - 70/30 In. some departments 60/40 and in some 90/10 depending on the field of study.Tolerance for ethnicity and religion was very good. I dont remember any hindu - muslim clashes.sexual orientation - Well, That is intolerant even today, so back then too, it was pretty intolerant, unfortunately. But i dont think that had anything to do with the college.
Hostel Facilities
I did'nt stay in the hostel, so not very sure.
Alumni/Alumna
My seniors were very helpful and cooperative. Alumni network is good and i still get emails after almost 9 years of passing out.
Exam Structure
Again, the exam structure has got nothing to do with the College. Completely controlled by VTU.Internal tests were controlled by the college and these were well spaced. The labs were twice in a week as far as i remember. Gave us plenty of time for practica
Faculty
The faculty were all at least minimally qualified with an MTECH. It was a good mix of experienced and young lecturers. They were all generally helpful and interactive.Communication skills were good. Some of them were very insistent on practical exposure and
