Entrance Preview

I had taken IIT-JEE 2012 and secured AIR-1257 (don't remember exactly but in 1200's) and I chose Chemical Engineering since I am very good at chemistry and thought may be Chemical Engineering is quite related to that stream.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Course curriculum is perfect. NO tight schedules, NO stress (especially for chemical engineering streams) quite enjoyable with a handful of subjects (few are very interesting FYI)

Internships Opportunities

I did my internship in VSP ( Vizag Steel Plant) as I am a Chemical Engineering Student and I want some exposure to how things go on in reality apart from books and that was a mixture of good (interesting and huge exposure to different processes and like that) and kind of disappointed(same processes are repeated every damn time, so will be bored easily) and regarding Stipend, VSP do not offer any stipend and most of my friends were offered a Stipend of around 12-15K pm.

Placement Experience

4.5

Regarding Placements and Job Opportunities, IIT Kharagpur has always been a top notch in it. securing >85% placements every year. Many MNCs (like ZS Assosciates,Cairn,Microsoft etc,.) visit campus during placement sessions and hire students from various departments.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Talking about fee structure, when I joined it was quite feasible with being ?50,000 per semester but now they increased it to 1.2 L per semester.so I would say, it is a bit expensive now.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students with parents income 4.5 LPA are offered with Merit-Cum-Mean Scholarship(MCM) and students with GPA 7 are offered with merit scholarship. Apart from this, many Scholarships like INSPIRE are offered to eligible students.

Alumni/Alumna

Well there are clubs like Alumni clubs and Entrepreneur Club if you are really interested in having touch with seniors. In my case I was never chased seniors in taking advises as I wanted to enjoy and feel the thrill myself.

Exam Structure

Exams are not that frequent. Only two exams for a semester(one being mid-sem and other end-sem) apart from those quizzes conducted by professor . And coming to labs It depends on department and semester .Typically there are two labs in a week (from second year onwards).

Placement Experience:

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course at HIT builds a strong foundation in core subjects like DSA, DBMS, OS, Networking, etc. making it solid for conceptual clarity and exams. However, it's not fully updated with modern industry trends like AI, cloud, DevOps, FullStack. Practical exposure is limited, so students must rely on self-learning and projects to stay industry relevant and placement ready.

Yes, Our college provide us campus placement by many of the MNCs recruiters like TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, etc. The placement cell takes initiative from 2nd year and later gives training for placements from 3 rd year. Talking about the highest on-campus placement is of 32 LPA and average package offered is of 5-6 LPA. About 85% of the students got jobs of the department of Computer science.
