Remarks

I think its really the best University. Doesnt deserve to be rated as its a very good, infact very attractive University in Kolkata. I think it is the most attractive by its ifrastructure. It has excellent faculty and a very beautiful campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

I think the course options available here is very vast. Sister Nivedita University offers more than 60 courses. My B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics is a three year course with a lot of emphasis given on research rather than bookish learning. The labs are top notch quality.

Placement Experience

The college attracts a lot of reputed firms from many different sectors. According to the seniors here, each year more than 90% students get selected. The placements most of the time offer a very good yearly package to the students.

College Events

The college hosts many cultural programmes through out the year. I was surprised by the active participation of students. These programmes, whether being cultural, management or technical, are held with grandeur.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The university deserves a better fee structure for the quality of education and placements it offers. My 3 year B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics will cost me 1L rupees annually, which is not more than some of the reputed high schools out there.

Campus Life

The lab facilities are the best, I repeat the best! They are highly upgraded with all the modern equipments. They make the lab activities so much fun! The college also pays a lot of attention on sports. Being a fitness freak I readily take part in most the sports festivals and camps.

Admission

The minimum eligibility criteria is to pass +2 with 45%+ marks in science stream. Students can apply online or offline as per their chose. I went for online examination form available on the website.

Faculty

You cannot ask for a better faculty. Sister Nivedita University is the best! All the teachers are reverend and men of learning, specially Bhardwaj sir. They make you understand each and every topic to the very depth. I am fully satisfied with the faculty.

GO FOR IT!!

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.

After 7th semester companies started coming and there is different criteria for different companies like some company have criteria for more then 8.5 cgpa will be able to seat only in their placement conducting it is totally based on company preferences. The highest package was 9 lpa and average package was 3 lpa. Around 60 percent student get placed in my department.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell of my college is very strong.From 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements.There are around 50 companies visited in the college such as TCS,Intel. Microsft. Deloitte,etc.205 students are placed in TCS in year 2019. 415 students are placed in campus placement last year. Maximum CTC was 25 lacs/pa and average CTC was 5.5 lacs/pa previous year.After Jadhavpur University,the average CTC of the college is higher than IEM. Above 95% placements for IT,CSE and ECE students.There are around 55-60% placements in other department.My plans are doing some great things after getting the degree.

Insights of SNU

There are a few private colleges present in Kolkata which provides biotechnology but in my opinion the labs of those colleges are not as well furnished as ours. There curriculum is little different than ours. I didn't apply to any other colleges apart from Snu for biotechnology I sat for an online exam .And I cleared the test. Once you get a call you visit the college campus meet the faculty and the faculty may take a type of interview session The addmission process is smooth. But sometimes the staff members of admission makes blunder. My classes were about to start from 17 August, but they called me during July( because she didn't know that biotechnology does not fall under para- medical and made a mistake and for her mistake I had to suffer as I'm not a resident of Kolkata)...Read More
