Remarks

Every college makes an unforgettable impression to its students and PEC has a good reputation among its alumni. I have seen a lot of Ups and Downs in the 4 years of my college life but overall, I have a very positive impression of my college in my mind. Big plus to Campus life, Clubs, Fests, Sports, Hostel Life and few negatives to Century old buildings and curriculum, Lazy faculties and Non-decisive management.

Entrance Preview

I appeared for All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) in 2006 and scored 688 All india Rank. I prefered PEC Chandigarh because it is a highly reputed college of North India and well known for its placements in top companies at a handsome packages.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I studied Electrical Engineering and the curriculum was over all fantastic. Some subjects were absolutely good and based on real life engineering experiences. Some subjects were a bit boring and difficult to memorise but thanks to my friends who helped me either ways to get me out form that courses. Passed with good grades in the end though.

Internships Opportunities

I did my internship from Brussels, Belgium and stipend was 900 Euros per month. That was good because i had to pay only 300 bucks as room rent and a couple of them for food. Rest is your saving. Placement of PEC has always been better and with no exception to that, I got 3 placements in good companies and at handsome packages. Of Course i chose 1 that suited me best, well at that time, and enjoyed a lot working there.

Placement Experience

5

As I said, Placements have always been better for this college and an average student easily get 2 to 3 placements with an average package of 4.5 to 6 Lac per annum. Companies that come every year are from both Core Engineering as well as Software field of work profile.

College Events

5

Here comes the most happening this about my college and the college is well known for, Clubs and The Cultural Fest. There are about 18 Clubs in this college like Dramatics Club, Music Club, Projection Club, Envirovision Club etc and technical societies like IEEE, IME etc. Some unofficial clubs like SAACs, Voyagers, Daniels etc have also made their everlasting impression among the students. The center of attraction is the cultural FEST. I have to mention that I was elected as the Convenor to conduct the cultural Fest in my final year of Engineering. The cultural fest of PEC Chandigarh is also famous in Northern India and it was indeed a great experience to be the head of the function in my academic life.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee at my time was around 17K per semester for tuitions and around 18K year for hostel. Mess Bill usually came around 1500 per month. Check the website of the college for latest fee structure

Fees and Financial Aid

College offers Merit Scholarships, Means Scholarships and also Merit cum Means Scholarships for needy students. Loan facilities are usually offered by all the banks.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is beautiful and you will never know when the 4 years are passed. A lot of Extracurricular activities to do in college as well as hotel life. Labs are a bit old but staff is good. They will do your job when they find you incapable of doing that. Sports activities are awesome and PEC participates in most of the Sports Events throughout India. College has a regular teams of Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Basketball, Squash etc. Beside, every year, a 3 days sports meet also takes place where every college student has to participate. Another good experience of college life.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel was very very good and truly an amazing experience for every student. You get single room from your 1st year of the college. Hostel is the 1st place where you make your best friends. I can't describe those feelings in words. Besides, mess food is good quality vise but when you get used to a flavour, it will never ever be your favourite. Common Room, Table tennis room was amazing and other games like Carom, Chess etc are there to play. In final year, you get Snooker Room in your hostel as well. Over all, a big 5 star for hostel life.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very strong and PEC has a full time official Alumni organisation named as PECOSA. the group is active online as well and every year, alumni meet takes place in the campus organised by college itself.

Exam Structure

Exams are mainly semester vise and mostly not difficult as the papers are being set by college faculties itself. Even a last night study is enough to crack the examination but if you want to have better knowledge of the course, you have to spend a bit more time. Never forget, studies are not only important to crack the examination but that will mainly help you during your placement sessions. You can't fool your interviewer as he knows better than you so study hard for a better job and a better life after the college.

Faculty

1.5

Well!! here i have to openly say, most of the faculties were below average in the field of teaching. They have good knowledge but they do not want to work hard or say even a little work. We had to have learn all the subjects by our own.

Course Curriculum Overview:

For improvement in teaching methods, they can go digital, like using smartboards, or use more practical teaching methods, or maybe just improve the way of teaching simply. Teaching methods here really need upgrades, mostly students here have to rely on youtube when exams come near.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)
