Remarks

For every individual, college time is the best time of life, but if you come to PEC, it become the honeymoon period of your life. Beautiful campus, beautiful city, quality education and experienced faculty all under one roof. Only bad thing is that you have to leave this place after 4 years, that is the only drawback after the a bit tight exam schedule.

Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE exam in year 2012. I secured an all India rank of 6752 and i chose PEC over any other college due to its reputation and because it was my dream college from the time i come to know about engineering. I chose mechanical engineering because i love to explore machines and want to know the operating mechanism behind every machine.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Course curriculum is very flexible at PEC. In the first year, majority of applied science subjects were taught including humanities and PCM. From second year onward we were given choice to chose from various elective subjects based on individual's interest. We were given choices between Automobile, Materials, Thermal science etc. This list varies from field to field. In third year we had a minimum 16 weeks compulsory industrial training, where students can opt for industry or academic institute depending on their interest.

Internships Opportunities

We had a compulsory internship in our 3rd year of graduation. Many companies including TATA Motors, Alstom, Dabur, Honda etc come to recruit students. Mostly companies offer a stipend which is sufficient enough to cover the basic housing expense and food.

Placement Experience

5

Placements of PEC is its strongest asset. Every year close to 150 companies come to recruit students. Placement record of PEC is as high as 90%. Majority of companies offer an average package of close to 5 lac per year for mechanical branch but it could go to as high as 12 lac for Computer science and Electronics branch. For mechanical, TATA Motors, Alstom, Dabur, Maruti, Hyundai, Fiat etc came for recruitment.

College Events

5

In our college earlier their were two major fests. One was annual cultural fest "PECFEST" and an annual technical fest "VYOM". But for the last two years our college clubbed the two and they are now celebrated as single fest. The fest is considered to be the second most biggest fest after IIT-Delhi in north India. Lots of students from various colleges participate in the fest and there is a star night performance from a celebrity on the final day of the fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Day scholars have to pay approximately 38k fee every semester and it is bit higher and close to 45k for hostelers. Method of paying the fees is online only and students must meet the given deadline in order to get exemption from late submission fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

As such there are no scholarship that is offered to undergrad students but they are provided with full tuition fee waiver if they belong to economically weaker section. Students in post--graduation are usually provided with a monthly stipend of 12k by MHRD.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life at PEC is superb. University provide you numerous platform for overall development. College has many clubs including Dramatics, SAASC, EDC, APC, English Editorial Board, Hindi Editorial Board, Punjabi Editorial Board etc. These clubs help a student to gain an overall personality, these clubs helps them to express themselves more freely. There is no discrimination on the basis of cast, creed, color, gender etc. Apart from this, PEC is a No Ragging Zone and there is no question of ragging in there.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

As i was a day scholar so i didn't know much about hostel and hostel life. Although as my hostelers friends used to say, they are given single room. Room is quite spacious and clean. There are ample rooms to accomodate the number of students but still some students prefer to live in nearby PG's in sector-11 and 15. Mess food is healthy and tasty, i personally taste the food and it was very nutritious. PG's average rent is close to 4k per student.

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors are very helpful. Usually they come on Fests and express their views about college and staff. Seniors are easily approachable in campus and through social networking sites. Talking about Alumni, every year PEC organize Alumni meet where PEC pass-out come and share their experience in PEC and their life. It acts as a strong source of information and motivation for current students.

Exam Structure

Exams days are quite tedious. They were planned in such a way that student get free from them as soon as possible. Mid term exams are scheduled for 3 days and students are expected to give 2 exams in a single day. End term examinations last long for a week where student expect one exam each day without any preparatory holiday.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty at PEC is very qualified and mostly are IIT graduates and have a good experience of working in an industry. They are very understanding and helpful. Lot of research activities are going on at PEC and professor involve students to take part with them in the research projects as this provides student a handsome experience of research.

For improvement in teaching methods, they can go digital, like using smartboards, or use more practical teaching methods, or maybe just improve the way of teaching simply. Teaching methods here really need upgrades, mostly students here have to rely on youtube when exams come near.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)
