Remarks

The college is good from the perspective of academics and the clinical exposure students get. But the infrastructure hasn't developed with time. The labs need to be better and there should be a revamp in the faculty of Non-clinical and Para-clinical streams. The office staffs are also very irresponsible and they take a long time to process simple documents. The college needs a better canteen and a new Girls Hostel immediately.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The exams are divided into two parts, the internals and externals. The internal exams are again divided into topic based Item exams, taken at regular intervals, Part exams with a broader syllabus, and Semester exams taking place ideally at an interval of 4-5 months. The external exams are called Professional exams, evaluated by the university. Each and every exam is divided into Theory and Practical parts, each carrying equal weightage.

Placement Experience

4.5

There is a mandatory rotational internship after 4. 5 years of study, where students are paid well. Students can then either opt to work as a junior resident in the Hospital in a department of their choice or leave the college to work at any private institution or study further.

College Events

4

The events are scarce in a Medical College. The Annual Fest - " Impulse " is the grandest celebration over 4 days and takes place in September. The cultural program Swabhimaan takes place in August. The Fresher's in November. The convocation ceremony Medicos in March.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government college the fees are very very low. The semester fee is Rs. 5672 which includes everything including hostel fees. During admission every student has to sign on a legal bond that mandates a student to pay a 1 lakh penalty if the student wishes to leave the college before graduation. The fee is paid by D/D at the bank that the college recommends. There is complete transparency in the fee breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

I get the State Government Scholarship, named Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship. I get the scholarship as I cracked the Entrance Exam in the first attempt and obtained more than 90 percent marks in my +2 exam. Students who do the same can apply for the scholarship at the Online Government Scholarship Portal.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is good, being a highly competitive career and with huge academic load, students try to live the few moments of leisure to the fullest. We go to cinemas, we play sports in the college ground or sit in the canteen and have long conversations over coffee. The gender ratio is almost 1:1 as our batch comprises of 51 boys and 49 girls. Students from all over the country study in our institution. There is no disparity with regards to religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or economic status, as everyone's aim is to become good doctors and serve the society in the long run. There is also no strong political scene in the college. Labs are integral part of our course and quizzes are often arranged on both medical and non medical topics.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

No. I stay in a PG where the average rental is about 3500 per month. The hostel has enough rooms to accomodate students but many prefer PGs because they seek a space where they can study in peace. The hostels also are not that clean and the Girls Hostel is overcrowded.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students are very supportive to say the least. They treat us like brothers and sisters. They help us with books, notes and even teach us topics that are difficult to understand. We go on trips together and they also help us during our ward duties.

Admission

After appearing in the NEET in May 2017, and after getting a satisfactory rank, I went through the counselling process, by which I was allotted this college to pursue my dream course in medicine. The classes started around the month of September after the counselling process got over.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty of the college is good for the clinical streams, but for the Non-clinical and Para-clinical streams, the faculty is average at most. A few professors are supportive to every student through thick and thin, while some are biased. Professors guide well during the ward duties and teach the basics, while major chunk of knowledge is imparted by the Post Graduate Traiees.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.
