Remarks
I always had the opinion that Biotechnology will be the next big thing in India. And I always loved the subject. There are hardly a few institutions in India which teach Biotechnology. And getting into an IIT was not a piece of cake for me. Amity is mainly known for it's Biotechnology courses and this is one of the main reasons why I took admission in this college
Course Curriculum Overview
Course syllabus was quite updated. We are taught with almost all the latest instruments and gadgets. The labs are also well furnished and well occupied. Talking of industrial exposure, no there wasn't much industrial exposure that were provided. Due to time constraints and due to some problems. Faculties are well to do, though not all the faculty members. But most of them are quite knowledgeable in their respective courses.
Internships Opportunities
Yes. I had got an internship from Institute of Genetic Engineering, Kolkata. As I am from the Biotechnology department, I loved to do an internship on Biotechnology. And I got a medicine biotech internship on Thalassemia. They did not provide any stipend but the knowledge that I gained was probably one of the best for me.
Placement Experience
As I have mentioned this is a new University. And so it's just started to grow. But still we are getting a number of companies like Byju's, TCS, Deloitt, Wipro, Nestle, Hindustan times and many other offers from reputed companies. The placement department is also doing a great job in bringing the companies for the placement.
College Events
Campus life and events are up to the mark. We have our Annual fest every year which saw participation of a number of colleges and students. Also we have the Amity Annu Sports meet every year, which also saw huge participating from colleges across West Bengal and India.
Fees and Financial Aid
No I haven't availed any loan. But there are options as I know. Either the college provides them or you need to contact your bank for that. But college helps in every way they can so that you can ava the loan.
Campus Life
Campus infrastructure is growing day by day. This University is just 5 years old. And so it is still growing. We have got a huge academic building, separate boys and girls hostel, 3 cafeterias, 1 large library, sports room, indoor football playing area, swimming pool and a number of other things. Labs are well established with almost all the things that we need available there. The only drawback is that the cafeterias provide you vegetarian food.
Hostel Facilities
No I haven't opted for hostel. Though the hostel provides great infrastructure and comfy beds and comfort, still the price is way too high. There are a number of PGs and room rentals available around the University. Just 10-15 mins by a bus or auto. And you can opt from them. Their price is very much nominal, ranging from 5-9k per month for a single room stay. And also you get your own freedom
