Remarks

The University is really good however, infrastructure needs to be improved. The University itself isn't well maintained. The washrooms are not that clean and lack the latest equipment.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is amazing. In the first semester, students are taught khayal, in the second, Bengali songs, in the third, kirtan and dhrupad, in the fourth knowledge of raga and folks songs and taal and laya, in the fifth, thumri and taal again, in the sixth, pala kirtan, khayal, dhrupad, etc. Overall, the Bachelor's course offers a variety of styles of Indian music equipping the student very well in the future so that he can establish himself as a successful musician or musicologist. External exams are held after every six months, i.e in the new CBCS semester system. Internal exams are held a few weeks before the external exams. If a student fails to qualify in one of his semesters, he will get another chance next year.

Placement Experience

4

Excellent placements are available by college especially the students from computer fields and other than that all branches have there equal and great shares in placement. Various companies are ready after your degree.

College Events

3.5

1. Workshops - Different workshops are held at the University throughout the year by various performing musicians from all parts of the world in various musical performance and music theory topics. 2. Fresher's Welcome - The students union, presently led by the TMCP, hosts the fresher's welcome ceremony individually for each department. 3. Zephyear - This basically is the University fest, reunion, and socials. A three-day-long program where various bands come and perform to entertain the students in December. Students also are allowed to perform. This event again is hosted by the Student's Union. 4. Picnic - Again an initiative of the Students Union. For a sum of 500, students are taken to a picnic spot for a day in busses. Food and everything else is provided by the Students Union. 5. Basant Utsav - Every year before Dol Yatra and Holi, Basant Utsav is celebrated to welcome the month of Falgun and also the season of Spring( Basant in Hindi). There is singing, dancing, and drama. All performed by the students. This event is organized by the Students Union. 6. Saraswati Puja - A three-day festival by the students union with the original day of the Saraswati Puja being one of the days.

Fee Structure And Facilities

If you are slotted by the CET examination then the fees are applied according to your caste and all. If you are from management Kota, then it's on college how much fees they apply to students by their caste.

Fees and Financial Aid

For students with BPL cards, there are various scholarship schemes. There is a railway concession scheme for every student availing the railway services by IRCTC to commute to the college. There is a Kanyashree Scholarship scheme for women.

Campus Life

4

Various sports are held in the month of December or January. Winners are also felicitated on annual functions by trophies and medals. The college has a good campus that has various grounds for various sports.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I have not opted for a hostel I live outside as a paying guest. Hostel fee is at the next level that all students cannot afford, so there are other options outside here with a well-furnished room as PG. On an average rate of 3000/- per month.

Admission

The admission form is published online @ admission.rbu.net.in The form is published on the website after the Government of West Bengal publishes results of Higher Secondary Exams. The students need not physically go to the University to apply. The entire process happens online. The form costs 250 (to be paid online via Net Banking, credit card, debit card, etc.). The students have to create their own accounts on the website. Once the form is filled up, students must take a printout of the filled form. Within weeks, on the same website, a list of candidates eligible for the entrance exam is published. This eligibility is based on the marks obtained by the students in their board exams of the 12th standard. The minimum eligibility criteria are 50%. In the published list, students will be allotted dates and will be given PDF versions of admit cards in their accounts which they need to take a printout of and carry for the first round of entrance exams, i.e the practical exam. The students need to perform in front of a panel of judges comprising of the University's faculty. The students may either sing vilambit and drut khayal or dhrupad, or a Bengali song or a folk song. This will be following what they have chosen while filling up the admission form. After this process is over, another list will be published within two weeks, shortlisting candidates who have qualified for the second round, i.e the theory examination. The old admit card will do. No new admit card will be issued. A syllabus will be published on the same website and the students have to appear for the exam on the given date. After this, a week or two later the first merit list is published. Merit lists for different castes are published separately. To get admitted, students need to pay a sum of 1665 through the same website. After this, they need to print the bill issued online after payment and take it to the Faculty Office of the University on a given date(notified on the website) for verification. They carry their identity and address proofs and mark sheets of 10th and 12th boards and admit cards. After verification at the University, the admission process is complete and a new Pay-In-Slip is issued who are photocopy must be presented at the department.

Placement Experience:

In my college students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester and every year many companies come for hiring. Recently companies like TCS Accenture Cognizant Hitachi JSW Group Philips Axis Bank and some startups also visited so we get both IT and core chances. As per the latest data the highest package was around 24 LPA and the average stays around 6 to 6.5 LPA for most students and the lowest offers start from 3.5 LPA so it depends a lot on the role and company. Many students get placed but it mostly depends on skills performance and branch so it is not guaranteed for everyone. I feel the college gives decent chances but we also have to do our own preparation because competition is high. If I dont get placement from campus then I will try off campus also because there are many openings outside specially in IT. Overall placements are good for this level college and since companies keep coming for drives students who prepare properly usually get at least one offer.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is also good and it is explained in detail on the college's website and there are labs for the courses which made learning fast and easy. Relevance(industry alignment)->8/10 The curriculum is designed to keep up with the industry needs especially in fast growing fields like computer science, management, design and pharmacy. Updated course such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and 3D printing are included for tech students. Industry exposure depends on the students initiative it's not equally strong in every department. Comprehensiveness-> 7.5/10 First year courses focus on building strong basics in science, mathematics and communication skills. Later semesters introduce specialisation, electives, research projectsand soft skill training. The curriculum also includes personality development, entrepreneurship and innovation modules. A few departments could integrate new technologies fatser into the syllabus. Practical v/s theoretical balance: Labs, workshops and real world projects are a core part of the structure, especially in engineering, design, and science programs. CIA like case studies, presentations, and assignments encourage hands on learning. However, in some programs, there is a still heavier focus on the theory, so students must actively seek extra learning resources
