Remarks

It's a great college to spend your 3 years. Atmosphere inside the campus is great and favourable for the students who sincerely want to study.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Economics is more of a practical subject. So it has a wide implications in todays world. That too when the entire world economy is in recession ( also due to Covid 19) economics and economists become a major force to bring it on the right track. The curriculum of the college is upto date and more relating to the practical world.

Placement Experience

3

The placement of our college is average. Since in this era of cut thouroat competition just doing graduation isn't enough. However the plavement is quite good. Companies like Oyo, MMT comes to recruit studnets. However there is Central Placement Cell at the University level which provides tremendous Placement and internship.

College Events

4

Every year in the month of September college election is organized. Then in the month of February the most awaited College fest is organized where celebrities too come to perform. Then the each department of the college such as economics department, commerce department, history department etc organizes their fest. Other events such as NCC FEST, societies seminars are also a centre of attraction.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being the college fully funded by Delhi Goverment fee is quite feasible. The fee of my course is Rs. 10260 per annum. There is no other fee, apart from this, to be paid. Scholarship are also given to students belonging to SC,ST OBC and Economically backward students on the basis of their merit.

Fees and Financial Aid

No loan or scholarship taken. Scholarship oppurtinities is only given to the students belonging to SC,ST EWS on the basis of certain fixed criteria. The students getting the scholarship need not have to pay any fee.

Campus Life

4

The college'campus is great. The atmosphere of the college is good for students wanting to study. The gender ratio must be around 3:1(male:female). Every year the cultural society organizes the college annual fest (and DU is known for its Fest). Then the various socities of the college such as music, dance, dramatics, Ncc, Nss etc organizes their fest. Every year in the month of September college election is held for the post of President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. Our college is 100% funded by Delhi Goverment.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities is not available in this college. Hostel facility is only available in the top colleges of Delhi University (which definitely have high cut off too). However good PG's are located around the college at feasible price.

Alumni/Alumna

In the month of January our college organizes Alumni meet where i came to meet the alumni of our college who are serving in different fields. The interaction with me motivated me a lot to excel in my field.

Admission

Being excellent in Economics in my school days i always wanted to do my graduation in economics. This course gives a wide spectrum of opportunities. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar College being one the reputed collegs of University Of Delhi has excellent faculty of economics which made me opt for this college. Moreover it's cut was quite low as 93.75%.

Faculty

4.5

University of Delhi best know for its Economics Faculty. In our college there are about 6 lecturers in our department. Each of them are highly qualified as has great teaching skill. They are very much cooperative and dedicated towards their work. Our Teacher in charge Dr. Narender Thakur did his UG from University Of Delhi, PG in Econometrics (considered to be the toughest part of Economics) from Nottingham University and PHD and Post Doc from JNU.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
