Remarks

Negative : Infrastructure is very poor. It can be very good with just a few investments and maintenance. Positive: Freedom in campus and good placements. And a good network of students. Very important.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure is extensive and rigorous. It has a lot of difficult to digest subjects from the very first semester itself. The teachers are average and the research focus is very high in my department. Exams are average to difficult and the marking scheme is tough. Labs are not in a very good condition but practicals are a must and labs are fun to attend.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements in our college is good enough. In our department, placements were quite good this year while the internship offers were even more better than the previous years. The Average CTC is 9 LPA currently. The IT and CSE placements are also very good. Highest package in our branch is 16 LPA for this year while in CSE it is 52 LPA.

College Events

4.5

1. SRIJAN- Annual Tech fest of Jadavpur University. Largest in the city. Participation from around Kolkata and Odisha Bihar Jharkhand. 2. Sanskriti- Annual Cultural fest of Jadavpur University. 9 day longest college fest in Asia. A crowd of 30k from around the state and country. Apart from these, we have a lots of clubs and societies which hold their events. 1. Jadavpur University Model United Nations. Largest MUN in Eastern India. Hosted by Debating Society. 2. ESUMMIT by JU ECell. 3. IBTIDA by Music and Dance club

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very nominal because it's a state and center funded institute. For Engineering, 2000 INR annually for four years is charged. Apart from this registration fees is INR 750 only. Much lesser for ST/SC/OBC Candidates. The exception is for IT. Course. It has a fees structure of 25k per year. This is due to the fact that it started off a bit later and is yet to receive govt. funding

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college provides a lot of consessions on course fees and scholarships as well. These are govt. Scholarship programs. I know a lot of friends who have availed them due to their poor financial conditions.

Campus Life

2

The Gender ratio is BAD. For instance in our batch of 56 we have 10 girls only. The fests and college events are amazing. The fresher's farewells and reunions are also very well organized every time. We have Debating Society, Dance Club, Music Club, Drama Club, Photography Club, Science Club, Mountaineering Club, Quiz Club and Painting club as well. Freedom is atmost priority in our campus with regards to anything. Very low gender/race/religion intolerance. Students from Bihar and Bengal study together. Students are politically aware and active. An average student is below middle class to middle class family.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes they are very helpful. Jadavpur University has a strong alumni network. They also fund the fests and events of our college. And visit the campus quite often. Connected to the campus very much. Senior fundings are usually higher than sponsorship fundings for a college event. Be it Srijan or Sanskriti.

Admission

I got admission thourough WBJEE which is held once a year for 12th pass students. I secured a rank which made me eligible for most branches in the college except for CSE/IT/ECE. I chose my branch after reading about it on a few websites and talking to a few seniors of the same college and branch.

Faculty

3

Faculty is highly qualified and have a lot of knowledge about the subjects they teach. But very few of them take classes that are interesting to attend. The rest are there just to do their job. Almost all of them have a recognized platform and add to the value of a student in their CVs. The pool of professors in my department is not very large but is very effective.

Placement Experience:

Despite the low fee structure, my college provides a good placements. Almost every student of CSE Dept who sit for placement, gets the placement between 4lpa - 6lpa. Last year the highest package was ?12 lpa. ECE department has the lowest percentage of placements. And other engineering departments have between 60-70% placement. All the mentioned above is the description of in campus placement. Not many students of my college opt for out campus. But if they do, they get good placements as per the reports. In 2021 a student secured the job in Microsoft, with the placement of ?45 lpa (out campus).
