Remarks
Despite of the bad quality of infrastructure, the quality of education and placements are far better than any other Colleges in the country at such a low fees. If you can get departments like CSE, ETCE, IT etc. and you come from a humble background then this university will prove to be a very good option for you.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is okay. But depends on the department you choose and your likes and dislikes. Each semester we have two class tests and one semester examination for each course. Mostly the daily routine is not that hectic and you have plenty of time in hand to do something productive at home. But during exams it gets hectic with lots of syllabus to cover at the last days (if you are like me?).
Placement Experience
Almost all the placement related works are done by the students themselves. So, these processes are completely transparent unlike other engineering Colleges. More than 90 percent of the students are placed at big companies.
College Events
Our University is known for big events like Sanskriti, Srijan, Jadavpur University Photofest, JUMUN, TEDx etc. Most of these are absolutely free for participation. Though we don't get as big sponsors as many other engineering Colleges in the country, but the alumni help us in arranging everything for pulling off these events at such scale.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For a total of four years (that is, eight semesters) of your bachelors in Engineering you have to pay a minimal tution fees of approximately ?11,000 (excluding IT department). For IT, the fees is approximately ?75,000.
Fees and Financial Aid
Jadavpur University is one of the cheapest Universities in the country, which makes you ready for industries with good quality of education. All this comes at a very low fees. I don't think a scholarship may be necessary. Still, you can apply for few scholarships like FFE. You can learn more about this on the internet.
Campus Life
Girls to boys gender ratio is very very low in the engineering departments. In my batch there is only 1 girl and approx 75 boys. Workshops are conducted regularly by various institutions and individuals on a wide variety of topics.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni of our university are very friendly. Many of them visit our university to give their valuable suggestions and share their experience. They also sponsor a lot for many of our events and fests.
Admission
Honestly, I had no intention in getting into this University. I gave the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination just because my friends were doing so. But, surprisingly I performed well and got a good enough rank to be admitted in the ETCE dept. I did not clear the JEE advance paper so IIT was not an option for me.
Faculty
The professors and teachers here are well educated. Attendance is not that compulsory so, the class is mostly filed with only interested students. But, in the first year research scholars come sometimes who may or may not be good.
