Remarks

Place is all good you won't find any BT here. Weather is awesome all along. It has 880 acre campus mostly forest. All residential campus. There is river all along the campus over the outer perimeter. Everything you need is available in the campus. For those who drink they can go to Ranchi through BIT bus like responsible citizen drink and board bus come back. Buses have their through and go timing.Life is all sorted here.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course structure is a mixed state of core mathematics and core computer science. Mathematics is further classified into all its parts with each part having their papers each semester. For example you will have linear algebra paper along with stats paper. Same goes for CSE papers. Moreover the course is so balanced that you get to learn much of maths that is required for the latest hot topic Machine Learning, Deep Learning etc. You will never have more than 6 hours of class in a day and that too in stretch. So you mostly have 2 labs every semester and that includes 3 hours in a week in one lab. You have 2 quiz, 1 mid semester and 1 end semester for every paper. Every professor in each department are under any government research work or working on R&D of their department. So students have much opportunities regarding research paper and publication. Course syllabus can be thoroughly worked on and is available on the institute website.

Placement Experience

4.5

As per this year all my batchmates got placed. With the minimum package of 6 lakhs in Deloitte and highest being Microsoft which offered 39 lakhs per annum. Otherwise people are placed in Novartis, PWC,KPMG,UpGrad,Crisil,Futures first, Axela Advisories etc. Internships are provided these companies as well you have a internship process in your pre final year. You do have opportunities but not as much as compared to placements. Having said that you will have at least 10 company to hustle around for. I had an internship with Nineleaps Technologies, Bangalore. I had an stipend of 15,000 per month.

College Events

5

Fests and students activities are a common sight in this 880 acres sylvan. So there are 4 main events in college of which two are held in even semester and 2 in odd semester. So technical fest Pantheon and sports fest Vajra are held in odd semester whereas management fest E-Summit and cultural fest Bitotsav in even semester. All the fests are either in autumn or spring so this do not add you to the heat burn. Of these all the fests witness participation of institutes all around India and have a footfall of at least 1000 people from other colleges for every 3 day fest. Every fest has at least one night with performance from renowned artists. Among all bitotsav and vajra are my favorite one. Bitotsav for all its day & nite event for 3 days and vajra being because it has sports all day and night with performance of artists on one night. People like Sunidhi Chauhan, Mohit Chauhan, Amit Trivedi, Khalish Kher, Sachin Jigar have performed here. Famous international DJ Nucleya, Candice Reeding have performed. Apart from all these there are 20 students club and societies which have year long activities and keep students in leadership role. You will have guest lecture from personalities of India like President of India, Law Minister of India, parliamentarians like Shashi Tharoor and others.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In starting I had to pay 92500 for my first semester which included registration fee as well as tuition fee for that semester. Then from my second semester I had to pay 49500 tuition fee and 20000 mess fee. From now on fees keep increasing 10000 per year and mess fee is constant 20000 per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships that are eligible under government of India all are applicable for students above GPA 8.5 and a special scholarship of G Birla is also given to students having gpa more than 8.0. Campus has banks that provides students loan at lower rates than other banks those who provide students loan as well. This is due to college reputation and ratings.

Campus Life

5

Campus has 2 girls hostel and has 13 boys hostel. This quietly suggest the gender ratio. Since this is a technical college you expect gender ratio to be less. Parties and workshops are very common. Every club and societies conduct their workshop like dramatics society have their own events and workshops photographic their own. There are in total 20 technical non technical clubs and societies. People are of broad mindset and you want find eve teasing or women harrassing cases. Students are not involved in any kind of politics. It's just a peaceful campus with forest and river around on 3 sides.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

In your first year you will have to share your room and then you will have your personal room. Room comes with a bed a table a chair and a fan. Rooms are spacious enough for one person and are good ventilated. And no one is allowed to live outside campus is fully residential. Everyone gets a room.

Alumni/Alumna

This college was established in 1955 under the guidance of GP Birla and Srimati Indira Gandhi. This college has an enormous alumni base and has regional presence all over the globe. I never had any personal encounter but have seen a case where one of my batchmate rose over 23 lakhs donation for his father's cancer operation in just 48 hours.

Admission

I am pursuing Mathematics and Computing at BIT MESRA. It's a 5 year course. I chose this course against my parents typical whims of either choosing between core branches ( Mechanical, Civil, ECE etc) or the most fancy ones ( CSE,IT). I solely chose it because it had maths somewhere attached to its name and as the name suggests you will have to go through rigorous mathematics which is fun.

Faculty

4.5

To be a teaching faculty at BIT Mesra minimum is you need to be a PhD in your subject. Faculty members of our particular department are quite well educated and experienced. Our HOD is DSc in Mathematics. With these distinguished and eminent faculties teaching standard is at par. Faculties involve much in class. They constantly monitor students and keep motivating pupiles to attain further studies. Each faculty is given a paper of their expertise. You won't find Stats teacher teaching you Modern Linear Algebra.

Actually biotechnology is an interdisciplinary program where we have to learn mostly the practical skills but there is no such equipment for doing a decent type of research work as they are not in a working condition. So first it has to be corrected and new equipment should have to buy for a making a good laboratory.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement in our college is held after the completion of all 6 semesters and there is very limited number of companies that come over to offer placement but off campus placements starts from 6 semester onwards. The companies visited were Vedanta for graduate trainee offering 1.40 - 4.65 LPA Tata Power for graduate trainee offering 1.90 - 3.69 LPA Only 40% students got placements. Many students didn't take part as the packages very low & even the perks were not so good. I planned to do higher studies in M.Sc. As the subject was very intriguing I preferred pursuing more knowledge.

As the session started late so we have less time to complete the syllabus but it will be fixed after one semester. Teachers don't go very fast in order to complete the syllabus they focus on that the students are understanding the lectures delivered. The frequency of exam is ok 2 in one semester. Difficulty of exam is moderate to hard

I am chosen this course because mathematics is my strongest subject from all of the others that's why I can choose mathematics. Faculty member of our college is very supportive but some of the teachers are very rude behaviour. Our college teachers are very disciplined about teaching and any project work. My class have 250 students. Every semester our college takes mid sem exam then a viva exam, assignment on every paper, group discussion, surprise test. The exam pattern was based on their classes. The exam pattern is moderate most times.
